• After 15+ years, we've made a big change: Android Forums is now Early Bird Club. Learn more here.
I have my opinions for a better version. If you guys don't look my opinions, move on but there are people that will want to take part in these discussions. We all know what's around the corner with flash, micro SD... Let's talk about what would make this devise even better when the next version is out. I'm sure Moto has a rep or social media expert monitoring these forums and taking collective ideas. We're all fans, there's nothing wrong with a discussion on what we would like for the future Xoom 2. It amazes me how hostile some can be.

Funny thing is I put up the same thread on AndroidCentral.com wondering what the difference in conversation would be and had only positive conversations in that forum. Yes, it does interest me as to what other people think and would want from their next device. It is strange how one forum is 100% into the discussion with actual thought around the subject VS bashing on another forum. Almost cult like.

Some good ideas can come out of these types of discussions.

- multiple user profiles
- vpn compatibility (just going by the related thread)
- codecs to play more video formats, or vlc type video player
- dlna client
- change browser so it doesnt default to mobile web pages. make it easy to switch modes
- remote desktop app that works with windows 7
- i read that the video player/gallery implementation wasn't great. if so, improve that
- make it so that the 4g upgrade can be done while u wait at a vzw store

And you sure these don't work? I already used a RDP and I have Windows 7. Haven't had enough time to see if it works well enough but it works. All that other stuff outside your 4G suggestion will work at one point. This is android, we get those things to work.

@MOTOROLA: I would like to see and continue to see ZERO BLUR.
......ZERO......
Do this, and I will make sure and continue to buy your products, as well as make sure everyone I know, has my personal influence and reccomendation, to buy your products.
One more thing...
No more encrypted bootloaders.
(Unlock the DROIDX's for God's sake)
PLEASE, Keep doing the right thing...
In the END, EVERYBODY WINS.

And don't go charging us $120 a month etc. :p
I pay $29.99 for "UNLIMITED" Data on my DROID X.
Your Tablet Data package prices/options are absolutely HORRIFIC.
Again, $29.99 Unlimited Data on DROID X...
Have you seen the price of gasoline????

Love my xoom but would love:

Xoom 2 wishlist :

Multiple profiles
Multiple user account login
Front speaker
Thinner
Lighter
Volume buttons easier to use or position change
Kickstand built in

What would you want? Realistically!

This list is exactly what I'm thinking as well especially the multiple profiles thing. is there no way to do this currently? Maybe with ta tweak that creates some kind of guest mode where all your personal information and accounts are locked down

Here is my list

- Reduce weight from 1.6 lbs to about 1.0-1.1 lbs
- Reduce thickness from 12.9 mm to around 8.0 mm (don't want it too thin)
- Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core chip
- Better display (something better than just TFT)
- More RAM (hopefully 1.5 GB RAM but I doubt it though)
- Release Wifi only and wifi+3g versions at the same time
- 4g radio included (wifi+3g version only). No need to turn in your Xoom to get the 4g radio upgrade
- Android Ice Cream preloaded
- Maintain stock android experience (hopefully motorola doesn't add a UI skin layer of motoblur)
- Software fixes for SD card slot and full flash functionality (hopefully implemented before android ice cream)

Since there have been rumors about a Xoom 2 possibly at the end of 2011 (Quad Motorola Xoom debut in autumn | Gadget Technology), I figure I would start a list of ideas of what you would like to see in Xoom 2. Here is my list

What do you guys think?

I'm really shocked that multiple profiles/logins hasn't become a bigger issue with tablets. My wife's iPad 1 is a nice device (when used within it's universe) but not being able to separate two accounts with emails, and calendar is silly, it's kept me from using "her" device for anything other than web surfing.

I partially believe that they do it specifically so that you'll have to buy two.

Android should be able to do this. It's a bit bigger deal because you'll also want to have separate home screens and widgets for each account. But why is something so obvious being ignored?

It would even work well with the new unlock circle, put user accounts around the outside of the circle and pull the ball to the account you want to login to. Give it a PIN for each account and you're good to go.

I would even use this to have a home and work account what allows me to have a professional home screen with work related items, email and VPN connections, as well as a home setup with my fun widgets, facebook, email etc. With 16 or 32 gigs space shouldn't be an issue.

The obvious issue comes with items that update in the background, but I don't see why the couldn't figure that out. It would eat more battery, but you could also set rules about which ones do update in the background. After-all having four emails split between two accounts shouldn't take any more then four in one.

I don't agree, I think tablets are personal, like a wallet. So IMO you don't need profiles. That's why your wife likes the more refined iPad and you like the more techy Xoom. And as its been stated in other threads, hotter women have iPads vs zooms.

Tablets are personal. But just like many people at home have no login for their shared PC/laptop, others will setup two different logins (even if they don't have passwords) so that things like browser preferences and chat clients don't get confused.

Tablets for most people at home are going to replace that laptop that sits on the coffee table for quick checks and surfing. But with the instant on of tablets switching between users should be so quick that it won't matter. As the space matures people are going to develop preferences and I don't really want to mix all my email in with my wife's.

As for my example of using the tablet as a personal and professional device it would be outstanding to have profiles. How many times have you been to a presentation where they guy's IM popups and puppy photo background were so distracting that no one took it seriously?

When I used to do a lot of technical demos I had a second login on my machine that was clean and simple so that nothing was running in the background. In some instances I can see where tablets will fill this role since they can output PowerPoint to a projector.

Tablets are also going to be expensive enough that it's not realistic to buy one for everybody in the house so people are going to share them at least for the near future.

Oh and my wife is hot but the lack of Flash on her iPad pisses her off :)

I have the WiFi-only version also. Works great with Bluetooth Tethering to my DroidX.
My wish list? Some of this isn't Xoom specific, but:
1. Google Voice with SIP capability.
2. USB OTG (Host Mode.)
3. A descent Solitaire App that uses the Xoom's full screen (Holo Solitaire is too dark)
4. Netflix!
5. Dedicated Amazon VOD app for my Doctor Who fix.
6. Page turn animation in Kindle App.
7. Xournal or a Xournal-type app.
8. Ability to edit video taken from other sources in Movie Studio.
9. Gimp or photoshop.
10. Mouse cursor when using a bluetooth mouse.
