Asus Transformer launch and review videos

Since most of the hands on Transformer videos out there are of the prototype (sometimes running 2.2, sometimes with Asus's own interface over it, etc), I decided to gather the few videos that exist of the production model from the Taiwan launch.

Note that the final version of the Transformer seems to be running stock Honeycomb with custom widgets (they should be removable) and apps, as opposed to the earliest versions where there was some sort of OS X like dock above the bottom taskbar.

Also a few of the recent Transformer videos I came across seemed to be production hardware, but not software (they had Google's own widgets) and the OS itself seemed a bit laggy.

Anyway, I hope this is helpful. And feel free to add any post March 25 review and hands on videos you come across.

This is the future of laptops (or netbooks), I'm so getting the Transformer then eventually the keyboard then I won't have to use my netbook anymore. Still got my good laptop for bigger things (like portable gaming and robust programs) but this would be great on the plane, coffee shop, on the sofa in the living room, and in the hotel lobby, weeee!

So far the Transformer looks to be the most compelling tablet coming out, especially at its price point. I definitely have this one on my wish list!

Depending on the price and if the USB on the keyboard has full host function, I will probably get this for the same reasons. My M11x rocks, but nice using a tablet for non heavy gaming

$550 or below for both pieces would be compelling for many folks.

Could care less about gaming, as long as I can be productive I'm happy. The integration helps take it out of the luxury category and puts it more into filling a need.

Luckily for me, I find a rear cam on a tablet less than useless.

In all honesty, this is a very true statement for most people i think.

Personally I have a droid x, so i already have an 8mp camera that i have on me pretty much 24/7 unless i'm swimming or something.

There wouldn't really be a time when whipping out the transformer or any tablet for that matter, would be easier then getting out my phone.

I wonder if this thing is really for sale today? Seems not much review info. Wondering if May is the real time frame for consumers? Seems so for the US, at least.

Talked to a guy at Best Buy. Never take anything a sales rep will say unless he shows their internal info (and some will actually). He mentioned the 13th which would be next Wednesday which would coincide with shipments coming in on Tuesdays, but I would think they'd have product for more than a day before it actually hits the shelves. Either way, I hope it is next week. The more I see it and think about it, it seems like the ideal solution. I wonder how the Polaris Office suite compares to DocsToGo. I also wonder if DataViz will make a tablet oriented version. Office editing with the keyboard and trackbad would be pretty sweet. I do it on my Epic now and use the cursor keys quite a bit. Would only get easier if it's more laptop like.

Not for me. I have a Xoom and I have used it numerous times to record videos. Recording with a tablet does feel rather awkward at first, but once I got used to it I enjoyed having the larger screen I found I have better control using my hands with the tablet as opposed to just being able to use my fingers with my N1. I can live without it, but nowadays for quick recording I'm more likely to reach for my Xoom than I am for my N1 or digital camera.
