Help Problems with Thunderbolt, Verizon guy told me to return it?

Hi-

Ok, trying really hard to just dive in and go with the whole Droid thing after being a bberry user for so long. I have a laundry list of questions, but I don't want to burn you guys out right off the bat so I'll start with this problem:

My phone just turns off on it's own. I'll be in the middle of typing, and all of the sudden it will say "HTC error " something blah, blah blah, and completely restart on me. I have plenty of battery left, so I'm not sure why this is happening. I called Verizon and the guy basically told me to exchange it for a different Thunderbolt, because he didn't know why it was doing that. SOOO, question is: Is this normal? Why is this happening? can I fix it?

I want to love this phone, really I do, but I must admit I think I'm in over my head right now. Any advice?

Ok, I'll do that on Monday. I kept hearing how cool this phone was, and I want it to work right and not make me so angry at it. I just wanted to hear somebody else say turn it in for a new one. I thought maybe I wasn't doing something right.

My Bolt did the reboot thing. I turned it off and pulled the battery for 5 min and put back in and turned it on and hasnt done it again. I will keep an eye on it to see if it does it again.

Yeah, let me know. I'll check back in. I was planning on going in on Monday to return it. If I get a new one, will I have to teach it all new words again and start from scratch, or can they transfer all my stuff?

Yep. Definitely not normal. You can try the battery pull or a factory reset, but it sounds more like a glitch with the phone itself. I had an Incredible that started randomly rebooting out of nowhere and had to have it swapped out.

Oh yeah and I'd return that thing in a heartbeat. Take the box too though because I swapped mine out and didn't bother returning my box so now I have my original box with a swapped phone. So if I ever lose the phone, I don't have any SN or IMEI numbers to identify my phone. Oh and no need to thank me.........


And yes they should be able to transfer most of it, but I'd go ahead and do a Google sync before returning it. Good luck.

Good luck with your new Tbolt! ..just out of curiosity what do you mean by "teach it all new words again" as for your contacts make sure you sync them with google this way when you get your new Tbolt all you need to do is log into google to restore them.

Not even close to normal for the phone to do that....deff a defective device. I'd say bring it back and get another one...my Lady has one and she loves ittttttt more then I do.

I'm on my second Thunderbolt in a month, replacement phone is doing the same thing...
