I was so excited about the possibility of getting a Bionic at least by the end of May, but my passion for this phone's release is waning at record speed lately. I feel that either Motorola or VZW, and maybe both, are trying to dupe us these days, and largely underestimate our intelligence.
If they are really releasing the bionic this year, in any quarter, then why remove the entire Bionic page at Motorola? It suggests that we really won't ever see the Bionic, but instead it may be replaced by another phone, (such as Targa), as was previously rumored.
My position on all of this is; JUST TELL US THE TRUTH!
If they are cancelling, or replacing the Bionic, just be honest about it!
Let us process the information, and make an informed choice on whether we want to wait for the replacement (Targa) phone, or move on to something else. The way they are handling this makes me want to forget about the entire upgrade at VZW, and pay off my contract to get out of it.
There are plenty of other amazing phones that will be out by the end of this year, and any one of them could offer as much or more than Bionic, so I might just wait for something that doesn't have to be majorly reworked, or replaced, while I feel I am being jerked around.
Just my two cents.

They released a statement saying it was delayed and would be coming with better hardware. This isn't really a dupe. It will, In my opinion, be 1GB RAM or around that. They removed that page so they could add a new one later.
I read that also, but the fact is that they removed the entire page when they could have just updated the specs. It implies that Bionic will be changed so much that that photo will no longer be accurate enough to serve as their ad.
If I decide I want to wait for the Targa, then I will, but I am just not sure that I am willing to drink any more of the Bionic kool-ade.

The problem with "us" making an informed decision is that we may decide that vzw is playing us and we go to another carrier. Some of us already know we are being played...

I'm not sure I follow. So far as official information goes, Motorola hasn't been releasing much. Any hype has been brought upon by a huge amount of speculation and anticipation, but not through contradictory information Motorola has passed on officially.

Delays can and do happen, be it as a response to a shift in the market, or for hardware/software reasons, or any other circumstances. Sometimes this means they lose potential buyers, but other times it's in their best interest, as they have to win over more than just the odd consumer, but also compete with established rivals in a very competitive market.

IMO, if something notable releases first, then voice your opinion using your wallet, and buy it. :) But I don't think Motorola is avoiding the 'truth', as if they owe us anything.

They absolutely do owe us! It is the consumer that keeps any business alive. They work for us!

I understand that they may feel that risk, but it may be better to risk that you could lose a few that way, than to avoid informing the public and risk losing even more sales by angering the buying public with not enough information, or wrong information.
All I am really saying is; if they are indeed changing the specs, and the form factor, while assuring us that the "Bionic" is still on the way, then that is a blatent misrepresentation of facts. If everything is changing, it is no longer the "Bionic" that we were looking forward to, but instead some replacement phone.
Whether it is a better phone, or not, depends on your personal needs, and tastes, in a cell phone.

My stance is this....I blame Verizon! They kept the Thunderbolt release so deep under wraps, and kept changing the release until they had no choice but to release year old hardware, then the Bionic talk started with its cancelled, its delayed, its being reworked, renamed, seriously now? And last but not least we have the Droid Charge which was delayed Thursday, again with pretty much year old hardware, and no release date to boot. Honestly, I'm sick of VZW, they're stance is We Need Then more then then they need us...wow, that's so false! Without us the business dies. I would just rather them be honest and tell us the truth, instead of being shady and mum all the time.

I bought the original droid, the very first day it became available Nov 6th, 2009. So, all of us that are pioneer Droid owners, our first 20 month discount for next phone is July 6th, 2011. So, I'm not worried about delays, until they push out beyond July 6th. So, we'll see.... From what I've been seeing/hearing, either the Bionic, or Targa will be nice upgrades, just hope either or both are available around the first week of July.

I wasn't eligible for the OG Droid until December 23rd. So I have until august.

I must agree, it is bullshit. It's the same with the Galaxy S2. But it's like this every time... they reveal a new phone to us, then we don't hear jack about it for half a year, only to find that the actual phone they're releasing has a different name, different build, and different specs. It's not even the same phone anymore!

Verizon is a tease, nothing more than a stripper. You can look... but don't touch.

With the ways Verizon has started screwing customers over since they got the iPhone, I don't even want to touch.

If Verizon is a stripper then the iphone must be like syphilis. NO way I want to touch Verizon anymore.

I think I've been with and screwed over at one time or another by every major cellular provider out there.

At least:
ATT(Not the Cellular, but the Land-Line ATT, so I won't ever even give them a shot at Wireless).
Cellular-1
Sprint
Was with Next-Tel, then they became Sprint, and I got screwed again, so left.
Now with Verizon, I've been less than happy with a couple of their dealings, but so far, not enough to leave them (yet). Time will tell, but the problem is, who to go to?? They all suck in their own way.

Verizon been screwing customers long before they got the iPhone and they've always been pricey. But the have the best coverage period.

Sacrifices suck. I'd rather have a better phone, but what's the phone worth without good enough coverage.

Honestly, I don't care about 4G. I think no one does until it's everywhere and batteries can handle it. I just don't understand why they won't bring new phones that are competitive. The Droid X2 is almost there, but even it is lamesauce with it's RAM and lack of front facing camera; also it uses blur.

Not to mention, the DX2 isn't even out yet.

I did too. I logged into VZW today and it said I'm eligible now for upgrade pricing. I so wanted a Bionic. That thing better be screaming when (if) it's finally released.
