Root unkown source/rooting

I own a flipside and for the last three days have been trying to figure out how to either root my phone or allow unknown sources.

Now i know you go into settings > applications > unknown sources and check it but whatever release i have, doesn't even have that option.

If i could allow unknown sources then i would be able to root my phone as well.
It would be nice just to have it checked as well.

Does ANYONE, anyone at all know how i could allow unkown sources? I love my phone but this is very frustrating. Thanks. :(

Alright, so rooting your la FlipSide is actually really simple.
You're going to need to download the z4root.apk file. (which ive attached to this reply)
youre also going to need SideloadWonderMachine to install off market apps.

Alright so now, step by step instructions:

-So youre going to have to turn on USB Debugging
[Menu]>[Settings]>[Applications]>[Development]>[USB debugging]

Once you do all that you need to install the SWM to your computer. Just follow the steps once you open the file.

Once that program is intalled open it. Then click "choose APK"
Look for your z4root.apk file
(Most likely in C:\Users\"username"\Downloads)

once youve selected the APK file a message should pop up saying its loaded and ready to go. Just hit install and wait five seconds.

Now that youve installed z4root, open the app and use the permanent root. Temporary root will not grant you full root access need to run apps like SuperUser which should automatically download to your phone once rooted.
Any other questions, just ask.

So after I install z4root.1.3.0.apk how do I execute it to gain root access? I dont see it installed in my apps on my phone, is there a step I am missing?

I have done the following

dl z4root.apk
put phone in debug mode
installed SWM
ran SWM
installed z4root to phone
disconnect from pc
ran z4root as permanente

it seem to finish and quit. ( done several times, some locked up and required battery remove, but did get it to seem to complete)

when I go to manage apps and go to say AT&T wifi hotspots, then none of the buttons are lit so I can not remove, move to sd.

What am I missing??
