Phone has no 3G or 3G icon

I know I'm probably setting an uncomfortable precedent by seeking help for a phone diff from the forum I'm posting in (to be fair, I did post in there as well), as this is now the second time I'm doing so. But to keep it relevant, I'm hoping if some of my OG Droid faithful have had a similar issue occur and my have found a solution. Here's what I posted in the DInc thread:

Ok, so I got the authentication problem solved, but something I thought might be tied into that problem is apparently it's own separate issue. My g/f's DInc currently has no 3G whatsoever. The 3G icon doesn't even show up at all.

I've tried everything I can think of. I've flashed new ROMs (both Froyo and GB, Sense and Senseless), I've nandroided back to previously working states, turning airplane mode on and off, turning WiFi on and off, I've dialed *228 more than a few times, soft reboots, hard reboots, batt pulls, you name it. Still, nothing.

I contacted Verizon about the authentication issue and addressed this current one. Data is turned on and has no reason to not be working. The rep had no idea what the issue might be. So I'm turning to you, my fellow phandroids. Any ideas?

Sooo...anybody experience this?

I had that happen a long while ago. The rep at Verizon said she "took me out of the system" and then added me back...I really don't know what they did but I got my 3g back. She said something like I had gotten disconnected from the towers completely so she had to totally remove my phone and re-add it. Not like a hard reset on my end or theirs, they did it on their end, sort of a re-boot for the radio I guess. It took a few minutes then I had to shut down and it worked. I am not sure what they really did and don't remember what she called it now...?

Thanks I'll give them a call back. I don't know why the rep didn't give that a go when I had him on the phone about the authentication issue. FWIW, we did have a nice lil conversation about rooted phones.
