searching for a lock screen for htc desire that switch off the screen but doesn't lock the phone

hi , what I'm looking for is a way for my htc desire hd, to turn off the screen, standby mode, without locking the phone. what I mean is that I leave my phone on the table , after 20 secs it gets off for obvious energy reason, but for use it again I don't need to press the very uncofortable button, especially if you use a plastic case, but just touch the screen,. I installed tap tap app, which is nice but sometimes i have to make all kind of gesture to swich it on.

I would think an app like that would eat away at the battery pretty quick, having the screen constantly waiting for input.

it wasn't like that with nokia 5800. the screen was off and telephono in " stanby" somehow but simply not locked. what I can not understand is why the screen off is strictly connected with telephone off.

I'm not an expert in touch screens, so I'm not sure if the screen has to be on in order to respond to touch. In any event, in order for the screen to be responsive, it requires that the screen be powered (even if it isn't lit or visibly on) which would use battery.

What's wrong with using something like No Lock and pressing the power button????

no lock supposed to be the rigth one . switch off but no lock. but doesn't work on mine. the power button is simply uncofortable.as I said nokia 5800 touchscreen worked exactly the way I needed. off the screen but no lock the phone.always ready

exactly the same situation. uncom power button to open screen back + plastic protector making it worse. same feeling mate and thats y i came across ur post.. did u find and solution. there widget , i ve seen it on youtube as top 10 but i forgot its name, it is on the market for ~
