I have several questions about my new phone. My old phone did not have a camera, but it did have an antenna, so please bear with me.

1.)
Total Space 7.39 GB
Available Space 2.68 GB
What the heck is on this phone? It is three weeks old and I have down loaded 4 apps, Google earth @ 23.05MB and three smaller ones. No Music, Movies or Pictures. How do I find out what everything is and can it be deleted?

2.)
I am in Canada and going to France and Italy for the summer. Do I have to change my sim card? Do I buy one there? Do I use Skype? What is the easiest and cheapest way to call back to Canada? If people call me, can I answer it.

Please excuse the lack of knowledge in phones.

1) You are looking at your SD Card.

Did you transfer your SD card from your old phone...if so you will still have all the stuff from previous. Try using Astro file manage which is free @ ASTRO File Manager - Android app on AppBrain and you will be able to see what's on your card. Alternatively mount your phone to your pc.

2) You don't need to change your sim card if you set up roaming although that will be very expensive. IMO best to buy a sim in the country you are staying in if staying for a long period although that will mean you will have to change your number. You could use skype to make calls as long as your friends/family use this as well.

Hope this helps a little...maybe someone else will advise as well :)

It's the cached map data for HTC Locations. You can delete it if you don't use Locations.

Connect the phone to your PC as a drive, then navigate to ".data\navigator\data\maps".

Copy the ".cmap" files you want to keep onto your PC, then delete them off the phone.

Thank you both.

The phone and 8GB card are new out of the HTC box with zero changes other than some small apps downloaded.

You were correct. Maps had over 4.6 GB of info on the SD card. I went in through the PC and got rid of most of what I will not use.
