My dealbreaker, does this use the netflix app?

I LOVE the idea of the transformer, keyboard for google docs/web surfing in class, and tablet for videos/games etc.

Problem is I can't find info ANYWHERE if netflix is supported. The netflix app on my EVO 4g works great, but does the netflix app work on the transformer? I can't imagine spending the cash if the app I'd use the most after surfing/goog docs doesn't work. Thanks y'all!

can't wait for it either. Netflix is not available for Canadians yet (afterall, who in Canada watches movies, right?), so I can't push it out to my Nexus1 or the TF. Will post here when it becomes available.

Nope. Over at XDA no one has been able to get it to work. Most likely a Honeycomb issue.

It's not a permanent issue. People are just trying to use the current version that works on froyo/gingerbread and not having success. I'm sure a version will come for it. Wouldn't make sense to not have it. Email them at their support email listed under the app in the market.

I'm not willing to spend 400$ on wishful thinking.

I would use the tablet netbook for

Surfing
Netflix
Google Docs

That is literally what I would do 95%+ of the time, if one of the three doesn't work easily out of the box it makes no sense to purchase.

Well if you must have something yesterday than go with a limited chrome netbook. You obviously don't need the benefits of a tablet then. New OS version means it takes time for apps to get written for it. If you want to call it wishful thinking, then go for it.

Have you used the netflix website on the transformer to play instant streaming content? Haven't seen anyone claim that where I've been looking.

To the above post, I NEED quick surfing/netflix/google docs access, I'd LIKE the tablet form factor and the android marketplace. Considering how long it took netflix to be available on my phone I consider it wishful thinking until I see a video of someone using the website or app on their transformer without some weird half assed work around. Sorry

I wasn't suggesting a half assed workaround, but you're acting like netflix streaming has been around for ages, android phones are really late to the game, and a version of the OS that was on one device a little over a month go is going to take just as long to get. You'd have to be a dope (generally speaking) to think netflix doesn't want their app on honeycomb yesterday. It's not like they offer their service for free. The more devices they can stream from the more subscriptions they get.

I admit I haven't done it yet. Again I don't have the app on my phone. I admittedly don't do a lot of streaming anyway from netflix as I prefer something larger than both my 15" laptop and my 10" Transformer.

I'll try to do it later today when I have free time if I remember and let you know how it is. Well as long as the app is free and I'll check the website too to see how streaming is.

What app do you use? I couldn't find a free one that actually worked well. All were rated poorly unless they were just a queue manager.

I can't stream from their website though. Won't work on this OS and browser.

Then dont buy one. Its going to have Netflix, its a new version of the OS. Netflix makes one for my Evo, its not "wishful thinking" that they might see value in developing for a 10" android device if they decided to stream video to a 4.3" one.

The ipad didnt have it on day 1 for the same reason, give it time. Its not a shortcoming of Honeycomb, Netflix is a 3rd party app and they have to make it work.

Dude, you are in an forum dedicated to ASUS asking a question about whether or not Netflix is supported. I can garuntee its supported BUT Netflix doesnt have an app.

If you must have Netflix now stop posting in here and go buy an ipad, it does all 3. There isnt anything anyone in here is going to say right now that will change this.

Another thing....buying technology today in hopes it will meet your needs in the future makes absolutely no economic sense. Tech gadgets are very poor investments. Any pragmatic buyer acquires technology today to meet a need today.

I got the 3.1 update yesterday and the Netflix app installed,but it still won't stream. Small steps!

Netflix will not stream to the transformer from the website.

I have not seen how to actvate mine. Simple as can be on Sony Dash running Chumby OS.

Maybe soon, the app says the transformer is supported.

My Asus tells me that the app has an update but when it goes to the market, there is nothing there. They do have a longer list of devices that are supported, but the Transformer is not yet one of them.

I will try the update from the droidforum as I saw posted in the gTablet forum.

OP- a workaround for you is to download Splashtop($4.99) from the market. Then downloadthe pc client. Works great! This will allow you to control your pc from your tablet. Netflix, games, whatever.

All three of your requirments will be met and problem solved.

I read on engadget that it is because there is no drm support on existing tegra 2 devices so Netflix won't risk it. Lenovo came out with a tablet that is honeycomb with the app but it is because it has specific hardware that should be included in all future tablets but in the meantime I am sure there will be a hack that allows us to have it ir Netflix will find another way because fir now there is a huge untaped market of honeycomb tablets ready to watch movies instantly
