Root Xperia Play has been rooted

I wonder how easy to root and get rid of bloatware? I would get rid of anything not needed for Android operation. This might actually bump the space up from 380mb to almost 700mb. I could care less about the Sony game center, since I would use the other emulators and then have far more game options.

I was thinking only 100mb could be freed up, but it could be over 300mb. Depends on the bloat and Sony stuff.

Well, I've rooted mine & got rid of a lot of bloat using Uninstaller for root.
To be honest I've not seen a big jump in memory. Maybe 40mb or so but i've not been that aggressive.
There is a thread over at XDA with safe removal lists.
REALLY agressive. But I've no idea what sort of memory they freed up.

I'd say I'm sitting with between 145-155mb space left most days & I've installed quite a bit since & it never seems to go out of that range.

I've also enabled setinstalllocation2, so only some kb's go to my internal with every install.

My guess is if the Sony Play interface and Sony apps were removed, this would save up to another 100mb. I already have all the PSX games working that I need, so no need for the Sony apps.

My goal would be to be able to swap microsd cards with different games on them and not have to bother worrying about app issues due to apps2sd or the adb app push process. This is very problematic- if you swap cards, as I would. I appreciate some games load data files on the card, but this is not the same issue as the core of apps being on the card.

I could have all of my PSX games on six microsd cards. Label them all as follows:

1. Shootemups
2. Action
3. Sports
4. Puzzle
5. Fighters
6. Racing

Some would be 16gb cards and some 32gb (already have enough microsd cards).

Is there a clockwork recovery for the Play yet?

I have an Europen Xperia Play. I root my phone by software.

Here in this link

xda-developers - View Single Post - [26.04.2011][v1.2] GingerBreak APK (root for GingerBread)

you can find how to root your xperia play without changing or unlocking the bootloader, directly by SW.

This guide has been published indirectly by other user, I publish the direct link.

It's easy because you can root Xperia Play with only one click :D

I could not get any of the 1 click methods to work on the R800x (verizon) play. Anyone have any luck or know anyone at all actively deving on it?

I hope we get some action soon for the Verizon model. This thing has a vast amount of potential if it is rooted, and has developers squeezing every ounce of power out of it. Too bad Geohot is banned from Sony devices, he made a statement that he would completely open the Play before his subsequent ruling/bargain with Sony.
