Hey there. I just noticed this happening, it actually just started happening but whenever I slide my Epic open, the touch screen becomes unresponsive. If I tap an icon, it'll load if I slide it back down.

I've noticed that I have to slide it open and closed a few times in order for it to become responsive again, anyone know what's up?

Yes you're on the stock EC05 ROM.

You can try doing a factory reset which will wipe out your data so be sure you back up your apps / data prior to doing that.

Or look to rooting your phone and then installing the EC05 Stock Plus ROM, which is mentioned in the rooting section of the Epic sub-forum.

I tried doing a factory reset and the problem still persists. I'm not sure if it's lag because I've had the phone for... close to a year now and I've never had this problem up until a few days ago.

I did it from the menu. Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data reset.

You really should do it from recovery. You will lose your data, so like before backup your stuff. To get to recovery power off your phone>press and hold the volume down, camera and power in that order until the samsung screen shows up. There you should see a screen pop up that has blue lettering. From here you navigate using volume up/down and the home button is the enter button. Scroll down and clear data and cache (two seperate selections) 3x each. Trying to remember if stock recovery has a dalvik cache under advanced(getting old and have the sometimers syndrome lol) if it does then you will want to clear that as well 3x. Then select reboot system, it will take a bit longer to boot up, especially if you clear dalvik cache, upto 5 minutes. Now your phone WILL be just like out of the box new. So before you do anything like sign into gmail try it out, should be better. If not then it would be time to meander to sprint to have it checked out. If it works again then start restoring things. Only a few things at a time, preferably one at a time but if time is a consideration, and check to see if everything is still working properly. Do this until all is restored. If you find something that causes issues then you will know. Let me know how this works. Good luck! :)

I don't really have a problem with the touch-sensitivity unless it is during or after a phone call.

For example, automated systems saying press 1, I pull the phone from my ear and tap number pad (usually have to tap it twice) when it opens I tap my number selection (usually takes two taps).

Is this along the lines of sensitivity issue's you have? I didn't notice this problem until FROYO, so I guess hopefully gingerbread will fix it?
