I switched on my laptop this morning and was greeted with a message saying firmware upgrade available for samsung galaxy s. This confused the hell out of me as i did not have Kies running or even have my phone connected. Anyway, so started up Kies and connected my phone and lo and behold there it is. Wee message stating upgraded firmware available. Now sods law, when i went to bed last night i did not have my phone on charge so it was way down in power so i knew i could not attempt to upgrade just yet, so put it onto charge and sat and watched the second hand crawl, which wasnt easy with a digital clock, but you know where i am coming from. Anyway eventually charged battery and attempted upgrade. Literally 5 minutes and i am now running gingerbread 2.3.3 on my galaxy s (PDA:JVD/PHONE:JV5/CSC:JV6(H3G)). Its way too soon to tell if any real difference other than new battery icon, hope there is more to it than that. OK they promised the end of the month and they made it with one day to spare, just need to wait on 2.3.4 now.

Not that i doubt you mate, but as of 19.23 30/05/11 the only news i have seen on tinterweb about a 3UK Gingerbread update is your post on here and the exact same post on the 3G Forum. Anyone else on 3 in the UK confirm the update.
Cheers.
Edit
Just checked ThreeUK's twitter, the update has not been released yet.

I can confirm that my step son has also upgraded and when i last checked twitter account for three, Twitter, the last post was them signing off for the bank holiday weekend on 27th May.
Anyway, if you havent been able to get upgrade, i cant explain why but i am sure if you look at their twitter page today you will see confirmation it was released.
Good luck.

For what it's worth here is a screenshot of my SystemPanel history screen before and after the upgrade (3 mobile UK).

This was with WiFi connected, an Exchange account pushing via ActiveSync and an assortment of things running in the background (e.g. BatStat).

Consumption went from about 25% in 3 hours (left side) to 5% in 4 hours (right). It is 6.20pm and the battery is on 70%

I did not do a reset after the upgrade.
