Droid Charge << OG Droid, slower 3G performance

I was just in my VZW store again today to play with the latest. All phones did considerably better on the speedtest.net app than my Droid. But of every phone I played with today (Charge, Revo, TB, DInc2, DX2, SE X Play, g'Zone Commando), the Charge was the worst. Would consistently score around 850kbps. TB did the best, scoring 1.5mbps. Would the file system also affect this?

Quadrant scores (which most don't care about, but still some do) was, no suprise, the best on the DX2, netting over 2300. I don't need to tell you what was last.

I did want to note that LauncherPro def helps the Charge out in lagging, but I was very surprised on how much the DX2 had. That new Motoblur just still doesn't cut it. Didn't put LP on it, though.

For the record, I can only get about 330-350kbps on my Droid, and my last Quadrant score was 1457.

I was going to ask him the same question. He posted fairly positive his first impression on Revolution forum, then suddenly exchanged it for Charge.

The Revolution is a great phone....with some issues that shouldn't be present when you pay almost $600 for it.

Build quality and fit and finish were great except for some light leakage around the edges of the screen. (very minor but present)

Loud speaker was meh. A bit like a tin can

Battery life was okay, much better than the TB but the charge beats them both!

The screen was washed out and a bit pixelated.

There were a few other issues like freeze ups.

Overall the Charge is just a better device IMHO. ESPECIALLY WITH LAUNCHER PRO!!!!!

Glad that you are happy with Charge. But when I tested Charge, Revo back to back. Charge simply couldn't match Revo's snappy UI fluidity on touch screen by long shot. Launcher Pro will help Charge, but I doubt it can outdo Revo even with LP. And in web browsing with stock browser, Revo wins hands down on rendering speed, smooth zooming and scrolling. Again Charge needs help of Dolphin to come barely close to Revo's stock browser.

But I agree on Charge's edge on screen, camera and battery. And it's definitely usable with help of LP and Dolphin or Xscope. Too bad, there is no phone that combines strengths of both phone.

Me too! I am still waiting for the PERFECT phone.
