I have an issue with all the threads started by people like you with no issues dogging the people that do.
When my phone is rebooting or hanging up on my calls, it is not functional period. So spew that crap somewhere else.
The people withy these rebooting issues, wifi not working, and hangips paid for a working phone. They did not get what they paid for. My issues were neither trivial, or imagined, and those of us experiencing them are not cry babies as you and others inply.
I'm really sick of the smug remarks. I've had real issues. I have not over reacted at all. I just want what I paid for.
I would not have been able to wait for the update on that last phone, my 2nd. It was not what I would call functional...period.
Knock on wood, the one I got yesterday seems perfect. But, it's my third one. And not only that, but it came in an unmarked box. So now I get to keep the original box with numbers that don't match. Would you be happy about that defiantbeast? I seem to finally have a working phone, but don't have a matching box...affecting the resale value. So three weeks of misery, money spent, and now this, just to get a phone that works. I asked specifically if I was getting a new phone. She said yes but no mention of the fact that it wasn't going to be in an original box.
Don't get me wrong. If this one stays right. I'll be real happy. I love this phone. But I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE WRINGER.
I resent yours and others smug attitude. So you got lucky. You all love to put those of us suffering through these issues into a blanket group of whiners. Like we should just take our defective phones and shut up.
My issues were neither minor nor cosmetic. They affected useability.
O.K.
1) I never said i had not had an issues with the g2x if you had bothered to actually read what i wrote you will have noticed that i stated that ive had issues with most of my android phones and i pointed out that
thats the cost of being an early adopter. Im now on my 2nd g2x and might be going to a 3rd. My first one had a bluetooth issue that wouldnt allow me to turn off the bluetooth without putting my phone in a boot loop. I tried 2 factory resets before being told it was likely a hardware issue. My current one will overheat when im doing a few activities at once or when its on the charger in my car causing the screen to go black for a few minutes till it cools down or i pull the battery. I will more than likely send for a replacement but it hasnt been consitantly doing it so im not sure if ill be keeping it or not.
2) And this was really my point in my post not to dump on anyone whos having problems but to merely point out that ALL NEW PHONES HAVE ISSUES/MANUFACTURER DEFECTS/BUGS. When you early adopt a phone you do so partially knowing that you will be a guine pig. My friend has worked in electronic retail for nearly a decade and he tells me that the first month of a new device is the worst, its almost guaranteed that any new device will have a percentage of defective devices because although they do quality control testing somethings will not be discovered until a device sees real everyday usage, just like software bugs will be discovered after real usage. It happened with the evo as far as build quality the nexus one and s, the mytouch 3g 4g and slide, and every other new device on the market. Again if you dont believe me check anyone of the countless threads on any new phone.
3) Im familiar with this because its happened to me every time that i buy a phone on release day or within its first 2 months out on the market "early adoption". I went thru 2 mytouch 3gs, 3 behold 2, 2 mytouch 4gs, my girlfriends 4 samsung vibrants. Yes some of its due to crappy software as in the case of the vibrant and the behold, and some of it was due to hardware manufacturer issues that were identified later on such as with the mytouch 3g and 4g.
I didnt have anywhere near that many issues with my nexus one, why??? Because i didnt get my nexus one until almost the middle of febuary almost march, a whole 2 1/2 months after it came out. After the 2 software patches and the updates were released. Was it a smoother device yes because most of the issues had been identified by that time. I still ended up swapping one out around this time last year when the power button wasnt working for me.
3) If i came of as dogging you or ragging on the "whiners" you said it not me, no not my intention i thought that maybe me explaning this would provide a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Was i frustrated when i was holding these devices with issues? Hell yes! Did it suck that it might have taken a week or 2 before i had a device that i was happy with? Hell yes! To this day every time i see a commercial for a samsung phone i want to put my fist thru the tv, thats how much i hate samsung. But i also know that once my device was working properly it was the best phone i had owned for that time.
The lg g2x even with all the problems is still the single best phone ive ever owned. Games on this phone flow like water, the screen is amazing and just goldylocks size between not to big and not to small. The camera and video are great and i love that i can hook it up to my tv thru hdmi. The rumor is that an update to gingerbread and software patch will be out as early as next week, we'll see.
