HTC Evo, can it be flashed back to Sprint?

I had a HTC Evo but gave it to my brother for him to flash and use on Cricket. Well, he has since went over to Verizon and gave me back the Evo. The Evo had a clean ESN before it was flashed to Cricket, so my question is can I (doing it myself) flash the phone back to be used on Sprint? I want to use it again.

your ESN is coded and that code is recorded evertime it makes a move. With the right technology you can see every carrier, account, and mobile number an ESN has ever been on. If they see this was on another carrier they may not take it back.

For example Sprint has the ability to activate Verizon phones, but they won't.

That still doesn't make sense though. If it was an original Sprint phone the ESN will still be in a database so what would prompt them to look at other carrier info?
