I thought I would post a little help thread. The Optimus M as we all know very well has a pretty bad battery life. I'm not sure if you need root for this, but if you can find it off root let me know. But disable Mobile Data if you are not using. When I had it on, my battery would drop to about 85% while I am at school. But with Mobile Data off, I kid you not, I had 99% battery at the end of the day. Just a simple way to make you battery last longer:D

It's well known that disabling services will prolong battery life. There are even apps that can monitor your phone and enable/disable them for you :).

And what you experience is actually good battery life. There are people that can't make it 6-8 hours with stock setup. By that time their battery is dead. Unless your school day is 1 hour, 85% is excellent, lol.

Another way to conserve a good amount of battery...get the app SETCPU..go to PROFILES..setup a profile.for the profile, set it to CONSERVATIVE and WHEN SCREEN OFF..set the priority to 100%..now put your cpu ALL the way DOWN..this will make your CPU run SUPER SLOW while your screen is off.therefore using less power from the battery..it may not be a HUGE increase, but any improvement is STILL an improvement! :D

I have yet to get the 2.2.1 kernel so I can't do that yet.
