Yep, THIS is out of the left field, since expected the Bionic to be August and the GS2 for September.

Considering that Sammy has given the GS2 to rom mod devs for rom modding dev work, seems the Sammy could be a better option. I was going to get the DX2 again if the firmware issues were fixed, but the GS2 will near certainly beat a DX2 update in July.

Yeah, nobody expected the S2 to hit the US this soon. The article I linked above states the Verizon S2 will not have 4G LTE. That's a pretty big negative to me...

I was expecting September at the soonest. While I have an Evo3D pre-ordered and I'm confident that's the phone for me on a personal level; It's really tempting to wait another month and see what the S2 looks like in person.

Rumors say Sprint is also getting the S2 in July.

Gonna get this phone...4G doesn't do much for me, what browsing/web I do on the road 3G is fine, and I have wifi at work/home (and it can be found almost anywhere if needed on the road).

NFC would be a nice bonus if included, but not what I care about in a phone, it's already too easy to spend too much money. :)

Haven't been really excited about a Verizon phone release since I got my D1 on the first day it was available...I'm excited again. :D

i wouldn't count on that, mate. Samsung has given an original one to devs. things change when a carrier gets their dirty mitts on something.

No 4G LTE in Function is only speculation from phonearena. Their source is article from computerworld and there is no mention on the radios in GSII. So it may or may not have LTE. I guess this one is probably 3G only, but Sammy will probably throw out LTE version of GSII near the end of year to avoid overlap with Charge.

Regardless of 4G radio or not, this would be great phone for me! Much better than DX2.

I could care less about it not being 4g ready. The Bionic most likely will be 4g and will give S2 a run for its money but the slimness of the S2 is what won me over. I dont want to carry a brick around in my pocket. I hear the Bionic will have Motoblur 3D and qhd screen, do these beat superamoled and touchwiz 4.0 of Sammy's?

The screens are not even close. qHD can't touch SAMOLED+

As far as the UIs go, honestly, they both kind of suck. I plan on using LauncherPro+.

Both screens are very nice, Samsung wins overall except for some issues (at least on the Fascinate and Charge) that can be fixed via SW updates (might require root, not sure) that some devs came out with for the Fascinate and the Charge, I believe, so doing the same on the Verizon GSII should be relatively easy if it needs it. Samsung's is better outside.

Gingerblur is nice, I like it on my D2 and wife likes it on her DX2, and what comes w/the Bionic is supposed to be even better. Haven't seen Touchwiz 4.0 so can't speak to that...

Hmm interesting points guess we'll have to see it in person when its out next month. But one thing just boggles my mind..like the Iphone 4 slim n solid but from what i hear the gs2 is made with plastic which makes it feel cheap. Why cant we any manufacturer make an all around beast phone to destroy the iphone and have apple imitate them and not the other way around.

Now the question is will VZW maintain their lame track record of skimping on features. Samsung lists the device as a 16gb or 32gb internal flash storage option. Will VZW follow their usual track record and have Samsung gut the internal memory and still charge the higher price point?

If they do- VZW truly sux butt.
