Help Galaxy S earphones

Does galaxy s accept any 3.5mm earphone? Asking this as the ones bundled with the galaxy SL (same as the ones on galaxy S) pretty much suck audio quality wise. no volume/audio track controls either.

If i go for say something like klipsch s2/s4, will that work out of the box? or will i need to go through another tweaking process?

Any earphones or headset with a 3.5mm jack will work with the Galaxy S.
However, earphones that are designed for other mobiles with volume and other controls will only give sound output. The controls wont work.

There are two earphone systems used with phones, the Samsung/Nokia system and the Iphone/sony system, although they both use a 3.5mm jack these are NOT interchangeable.

If you want a good set of earphones, my advice would be to "try before you buy" to check that all the required controlls work as expected.

Ah, thanks. So, the Samsung/Nokia system earphones, are they interchangeable? Talking about controls here, not about the audio output.

Yes, Galaxy S accepts standard 3.5 mm headphones, I use all sorts of different ones including from my iPod. I use my Bose noise cancelling headphones just fine.

I noticed that the headphones that work with the phone call have 3 black bands while the other headphones have only 2 bands. Is this why I cannot use them for phone calls? I am trying to buy other headphones but I am not sure how to know if they will have 2 or 3 bands.

Are these headphones specific for phones or can I find the 3 bands headphones anywhere?

I would expect that all three band phones would work, this means it has the extra contact for the microphone.

Nokia headphones with controls to select tracks and adjust volume do not work on the Galaxy S. Only the sound output and microphone will work.
Strangely, when I plugged in the Nokia headphones, the music player on the SGS launched and started playing the last track I had previously played.
As previously mentioned, the third black band is for the microphone.

I found some HTC evo headphones online, would they work on the SGS?

Don't know about the HTC Evo headset but you may want to consider a set I found online that are compatible with the Galaxy S, which includes playback controls.

The best low/middle level earphone good for this phone are those who come with it from manufacturer. I've had them for a long time, never had problems and are quite comfortable for the ears.
