so i DLed the 2.3.3 update via 3g friday and it went well, and i am enjoying GB, however the update killed my access to Z4 Root exploit. after doing some reading, i thought i would give GingerBreak a try.

i have an SD card mounted and have USB debugging enabled. i tried it on the wire and off and left it sit for 15 or more mins multiple times while the 'running exploit' screen was running and nothing ever happend

is anyone else having this problem? has anyone got GingerBreak to work on the shift yet? is there any other options (besides sprints $30 hotspot option) to get access to wifi tether?

They usually close the loophole for root with any updates.... I have never heard of gingerbreak, and for that matter whether it works for the Shift. You may have to wait until the devs gain root with 2.3 before you will be able to tether again.

:( gingerbreak is supposed to work with all devices on Gingerbread but i guess that is proving not to be the case with the shift.

Your right, it doesn't work. I've seen several people over at xda mention giving it a try with no success. I've also heard others trying to run the ruu to roll back but since the hboot was also updated, it no longer works. Basically, your going to have to wait until devs find a new exploit.
