Hello all,
I have read through countless numbers of forums and blogs, and watched countless numbers of YouTube videos on kernels for the Incredible. I have installed tons of them on my phone, and i just haven't been able to get much better battery life then what most people say. Some people say they get hours more battery life, and really, i hardly notice the difference when im on a different kernel! Also, some people say to use setcpu, and some say to not, and i have tried both with many different kernels, and i haven't found any difference. If it turns out that maybe Kernels just dont give me huge improvements (I know the phones are all different), is there anything else i can try to improve battery life? i was reading something about a "radio", but i couldn't quite comprehend it. I really just want to avoid getting an extended battery and making my phone look and feel like a brick. I like the incredible so much more then my old x, but this battery life problem must be fixed! Any and all help is appreciated, thanks so much!

First, I won't hold you being a mets fan against you (philly here)

Kernels definitely can help, but it's not going to turn your 1300ma battery into a 2750, or even a 1500. A good undervolted kernel on a good rom (aosp preferably) may get you another hour of juice. No one is working miracles here.

Best tips for battery life is to:

dim your screen as much as much as possible

Avoid poor signal areas (use airplane mode when you have no service)

Turn off bluetooth and wi-fi when not actively using them.

Use wi-fi when available (especially in low 3g areas)

Or do what I do, and always have a charger to plug into.... one in the living room, one in the bedroom, one in the car, one in the "office".

Lastly, welcome to the forums, and GO PHILLIES!

The info provided is great...QUESTION what does rooted really mean and does it kill your warrenty with Verizon???

PS YANKESS RULE BRONX BOMBER ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rooted gives you permissions on your phone that you previously didn't have, ie: you can modify any system file, and have access to load a custom operating system. (basically is the equivalent of having admin rights on a windows computer)

If you weren't a Yankee fan, I would tell you to read about it (easy to find out info). However I don't know many Yankee fans who can read (j/k)!

Root allows you full control of your phone. Removing and adding programs, custom rom, well....... just about anything including bricking. Be smart, patient, and do your reading if you are going to root.
