Okay, here we go!!! Anybody dropped it yet???? I will have to say the form factor, while subtly different, still makes it somewhat hard to handle. I have had many "almost drops". I will say this thing is a little "slippery" simply because the 4G was wider and after handling that thing for a year, the 3D seems to slide out of my hands.

Anyway, just curious on how well it survived the drop.....

I think this'll mostly apply to previous EVO owners. I've used an iPhone 3G and an Atrix before, and didn't have problem with dropping either one.

Ding ding ding. I was the first in line at my Sprint Store and someone dropped a 3VO! It was my sales rep and the first 3VO to leave the back room of the Sprint Store. She was about to attempt to put on the Otterbox case for me. And bam, I saw the 3VO slip from her beautiful hands and land on her counter top. I said in a polite way, "Can I please have another 3VO and you can give that phone to someone else." Management obliged especially since I was the first person at the store this morning. No line in front of the Sprint Store to deal with since everyone had an appointment to come in and pick up their 3VO.

However, I was the third person to leave the Sprint Store, but the first person to go into the store at least 10 minutes before another customer arrived. The Sprint Rep was hot and she could take as long as she needed with my 3VO. I didn't care and she apologized for dropping the first phone. I said its not a big deal. Just hope someone else doesn't receive the dropped 3VO.

I wonder if its bad luck to drop the first 3VO for your Sprint Store?..LMAO Stamets303, sorry you didn't have any eye candy to look at like me throughout my wait. I wonder if you can call the cops on someone for dropping the 3VO? Maam, we must lock you up for dropping such a bad ass phone. But you can get out early since you are hot.

On a serious note, my sales rep tried her hardest to turn the phone on using the power button. I said in a polite way, "There is a small plastic piece you must remove from the battery compartment before attempting to power on the phone." She wasn't the only sales rep who tried to power up the 3VO with that piece of plastic in there.

So there is an Otterbox available for the EVO3D?

i dropped mine today morning in the concrete but because i was holding my cup of coffee and i didnt payed attention to the phone because my coffee was to spill on my shirt so i completely forgot about my 3vo and it fell... :(
But the GOOD thing is that i bought a silicon case and a screen protector the very first day 24, and man i felt like how my blood was boiling of anger against my self stupidity and when i realized i had the silicon case and it landed face up and lucky me the silicon case still coming like 2mm bigger from the cameras part and it has no scratches at all..

That is luck and spending few more bucks to get the silicon case and screen protector on time.. :D

Hell no I haven't dropped it yet. I dropped my Evo twice before armoring it up with a Otterbox Defender. I have a cheap Empire case from Amazon to protect my 3vo until I make a decision on a better case.

I'm debating on an Otterbox or a Seidio case. I like the colors a available with Seidio, but if I could be an otterbox with Black and Yellow I'd be all over that!!!! :D

How does the lanyard attach to the phone?

When you pull the back cover off, look at the spot you used to pry it off. There is a place you can put a loop or string around at the bottom. It is basically a 'T' shape. I used that on the MyTouch 3G and have it set up the same way on this phone. I don't currently use it because I have a microfiber pouch now that fits in my pocket, but it is there if I need it.

Basically, put a strong piece of string, or something equivalent, there and link it to a keyring of sorts. I used an something from a micro USB adapter and it is solid as a rock.
