Hotspot and VPN access

Is it possible to have a VPN connection and open up a mobile hotspot to have other users access the hotspot and have complete VPN access as well?
Or maybe the question should be...can I Hotspot a VPN?

**the device in question is the Samsung i997 (Infuse) with 2.2

I dont think so..I know thats not very accurate answer but I can't say 100% no..I work ATS for Sprint and I've never gotten any type of hotspot to work with any VPN networks..but again thats just from my experiance.

I'd like to know if there is anything further on this. My situation is that I'm frequently overseas, and use a VPN (vpnuk in my case) to make my devices look like they're in the UK. It would be great if I could establish the VPN on the phone, then anything which connects to the phone's hotspot would similarly look like it's in the UK.

When you try and do this (I'm running an HTC Desire and 1 VPN) the VPN works fine over 3G/HSDPA, and the hotspot establishes with no problems. Anything that connects to this hotspot cannot see any data though. This happens on both PPTP and L2TP connections, the hotspot data works fine when there is no VPN connected.

Any thoughts on how this could be made to happen? I'm not currently rooted but if that made it possible I'd probably do so.

Cheers,
Rich
