Wifi, mobile data and vpns

Just afew relatively simple (I believe) questions.

1. If I connected to a wifi network with mobile data on, which service will be used - wifi or mobile data?

2. If wifi and mobile data are both on can I set the Galaxy S20FE to use wifi by default?

3. Whilst on ( a possibly open) wifi hotspot I can use my vpn to protect my browsing the internet using the internet. How do I protect the phone whilst browsing the internet using mobile data?

1 and 2. by default if you are connected to wifi, all online data will go thru wifi. if you want to use mobile, you have to turn wifi off.

3. you can still use vpn while on mobile.
