Help 4 window max on stock web browser?

I don't remember if this was the case on my Hero, but it seems I can only have 4 browser windows open at the same time. Is there any way to increase this limit?

Nope, not that I can see.

One of the improvements advertised for Sense 2.1 was more browser windows - at least 9 as I recall.

Other things to note with the Sense browser - whereas the Evo browser would just run slow if you ran it long enough (core leaking) this one will force close (and unlike the Evo 2.2 management, this one gets shuffled out of memory often, but that's likely how I'm using my phone, no big deal).

The other thing I notice with this brower - when you hit the back button, it takes you to a cached copy, not the current page. If you use it to browse this forum as I do, that's a pain in the neck.

Other change - if you go to enter a web address by editing the existing one, the "http://" isn't left behind.

BTW - stock browser tip: In your address bar, enter just this, no http:

And then go to Settings. You can turn off Java console and set your UAString to Desktop. Those settings stick between browser sessions. Will screw up sites where you can normally download Android apps (such as iHeartradio) so, you want to remember to switch that back to Android as your needs dictate.

Thanks for the tips. So are you saying that the web browser used to support 9 windows but then it got dropped back to 4? On my 3evo, in the windows view, once I reach 4 windows the plus sign to add more windows disappears. Furthermore, if I long press on a link to open it in a new window, that option is longer available if I already have 4 windows open.

It only allows 4 as you know but I was expecting at least 9.

They once had this on their website as part of Sense 2.1.

I heard FireFox was a little slow... have you tried the Opera mobile browser (non-mini) and, if so, what are your thoughts on it?

Why isn't there a Chrome mobile browser? Seems odd that Google hasn't created a tabbed mobile version of Chrome for Android, yet.

I like xscope. Tons of tabs. You can make it very minimalistic.
