Root 3500mAh Extended Battery + setCPU = ??

Just curious, but if setCPU works like a charm with a standard stock battery installed, then I wonder how much extra battery longevity would be when combined with a 3500mAh upgraded battery? (the stock is 1500mAh)
I just ordered the upgraded battery...should be in here in a few days!

Supposedly, with the 3500 battery you can easily go all day with a full charge (with wifi on, surfing the web and texting and making calls) , now combine that with 245 settings on setCPU when the screen is off, and I wonder if it will last even longer!

Has anyone combined the two?

My current set up is Mikfroyo 4.5 Netarchy 4.3.2 cfs havs more sbc.......Setcpu main screen slightly overclocked at 1007 conservative, profile on screen off at 245 conservative. I will post screen shots of battery life, but it's somewhere around 1 and 1/2 days with like 50% battery left. That's with the 3500mah battery.

I've got a Seidio 3500mah Lithium Polymer. Rooted on CM7 2.3. Not only does it last 12+ hrs on Wifi with my Main clock profile being Max: 1113 Min: 245... But the same setup on 3G with GPS on can go 8-10 hrs. Dumping HTC Sense was the best thing I've done to this phone lol. This giant battery coupled with rooting and tweaking the CPU profiles/voltage draw is a WIN

I have the Seidio 3500 also rooted running Myn's RLS5 Netarchy 4.2.1 smartass no wifi because I am always on a job site with poor 3G service, no SetCPU and have great battery life. On the job site by 6am by 10pm I average 40% remaining with heavy phone, 45 mins tethering, 20 emails, 30+ text average daily usage. Typical awake time average 4hrs.

Hope this helps...

Quick question about SetCPU:

Is there a way to tell it to be always on? It seems to get bumped if I use a bunch of other apps and I have to turn it back on. It tells me "SetCPU has been granted superuser permissions" which makes me feel like it's not on.

I'm guessing you are using a task killer and didn't add SetCPU to the ignore list. Also check the box that says "start at boot"

Hunterbeav, I thought or heard SBC was a bad thing for your battery.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what rom are you on? have you tried a custom kernel? you can also use setcpu to help in conjunction with a custom kernel.

1.ok so there are two types of roms for the most part. there is sense based roms, roms with htc sense. and then there is aosp(android open source project) that has sense removed and is pure android os. if you check in phone settings/about phone/software. it should tell you what software and what rom you are on as well as your kernel.

2.a custom kernel is kind of like a go between the hardware and software of your phone. it decides how much juice to give to both, thus a custom kernel can help give your phone better battery life depending on the kernel. here is a guide that will help you understand some terms on kernels:[GUIDE]

ok so try one of these kernels:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719763 i would start out with the more havs kernel and go from there.

also here is a guide to using setcpu:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/210253-setcpu-guide.html. just keep in mind that having to many profiles set up can also create battery drain. i would only recommend that you just set the govenor to smartass and to have a screen off profile and that is it. also make sure that you uncheck the set on boot option in the main menu, unless you know that your pone will be stable if you overclock it.

ok so try one of these kernels:[Kernel]netarchy-toastmod, Stable: 4.3.1 Beta: 4.3.4 (17-Mar-2011) Now With HDMwIn - xda-developers i would start out with the more havs kernel and go from there.

well you should be ok by flashing the kernels. it is really hard to brick your phone. just make sure to make a nandroid backup that way if something goes wrong or the kernel sucks you can always go back. here try this one:http://kernels.teamw.in/files.php?fid=447&kid=96. this is the sbc more havs kernel. give it a few days and see how the batter life is. if that does not work then try the less havs and then the no havs.

when you flash a kernel all you would need to do is wipe dalvik cache and cache. there is no need to wipe data, so everything on your phone will be saved. also again do not forget to make a nandroid backup before doing so.

For those who want longer life. Set CPU is marginal, I have more battery life without it than I did with it.
WIFI needs to be set to never while plugged, because it then sleeps when the screen is off for like 5 minutes or something like that. If you do not set this under the ADVANCED setting under Wifi settings, you are losing about 10 hours a day.
MOBILE Networks, DISABLE ALWAYS ON in the menu. That also puts the data connection to sleep when the screen is off. It takes about 10 seconds or less for it to wake up and be full throttle when screen turned on. Well worth it cause it adds 10 hours to life.
BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS, I got Brightness adjust (AdjBrightness from DeskAngel) from the Market for rooted phones. I set at 50% and it adds lots of time to life while screen on. I only turn up when I am outside in the sun, otherwise it works great.
I have the Seido 3500 and Myns RLS5 with SBC. I get right now, 2.5 to 3 days on, with moderate use, a full 36 hours on Tether and or letting my kid watch netflix all day on the phone. I tried just about every other option, and none worked.
ADVANCED TASK KILLER IS A WASTE OF SPACE/TIME/BATTERY. It is useless.
