Root 3500mAh Extended Battery + setCPU = ??

For those who want longer life. Set CPU is marginal, I have more battery life without it than I did with it.
WIFI needs to be set to never while plugged, because it then sleeps when the screen is off for like 5 minutes or something like that. If you do not set this under the ADVANCED setting under Wifi settings, you are losing about 10 hours a day.
MOBILE Networks, DISABLE ALWAYS ON in the menu. That also puts the data connection to sleep when the screen is off. It takes about 10 seconds or less for it to wake up and be full throttle when screen turned on. Well worth it cause it adds 10 hours to life.
BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS, I got Brightness adjust (AdjBrightness from DeskAngel) from the Market for rooted phones. I set at 50% and it adds lots of time to life while screen on. I only turn up when I am outside in the sun, otherwise it works great.
I have the Seido 3500 and Myns RLS5 with SBC. I get right now, 2.5 to 3 days on, with moderate use, a full 36 hours on Tether and or letting my kid watch netflix all day on the phone. I tried just about every other option, and none worked.
ADVANCED TASK KILLER IS A WASTE OF SPACE/TIME/BATTERY. It is useless.

I have to agree...when I used setcpu I did a test I had it set to underclock @ 245 when screen was off. I let the phone sit for 8 hours without using it. I did the same thing without setcpu installed and there was no difference at all with battery life.

I assume you did not have a custom kernel. The stock HTC kernels have a thing called perflock whick doesn't allow the kernel to be altered. You won't see a difference if you have a stock kernel and setcpu.

slightly off topic but, where is everyone getting their 3500mAh battery? can you recommend a good site? what's a decent price?
TIA

Just got mine off Amazon to, paid about $8. Not a name brand, but I 'be worked with a lot of batteries with various tech work and I 've found Berry little differance with lipo's going from brand to brand. Actually their are only a few companies that make the batteries themselves, they just put different lables on them. On the first cycle of getting the battery prepped I still have 80% after 5 hours. Btw o got the 3500 mah ...

Update: Yesterday was the first charge cycle. I got 10 hours 25 minutes from unplug to shutdown with mostly mild with some heavy use. This is without root or any mods. I'm pretty sure that after the battery is fully conditioned battery life wont be much of an issue. Can't wait to be able to root, I'm sure other Rome will probably add a few hours.

No, I did have a custom kernel. But I didn't notice a difference at all. I didn't do any overclocking. I just had my phone set at the lowest level it would go without crashing.

I would always check within a 5 min window of my 8 hour test. I would always have 88% on my battery. But maybe it was just my phone, I know some people swear by it. But it never worked for me.

And I had no use for overclocking because I already feel like my phone is quick, plus it would make my phone really hot.

Interesting, I've heard very few folks have setcpu not dramatically increase their battery. My bad.
I don't overclock either, don't want to cook my piece.

well you should be ok by flashing the kernels. it is really hard to brick your phone. just make sure to make a nandroid backup that way if something goes wrong or the kernel sucks you can always go back. here try this one:http://kernels.teamw.in/files.php?fid=447&kid=96. this is the sbc more havs kernel. give it a few days and see how the batter life is. if that does not work then try the less havs and then the no havs.

when you flash a kernel all you would need to do is wipe dalvik cache and cache. there is no need to wipe data, so everything on your phone will be saved. also again do not forget to make a nandroid backup before doing so.

ok so try one of these kernels:[Kernel]netarchy-toastmod, Stable: 4.3.1 Beta: 4.3.4 (17-Mar-2011) Now With HDMwIn - xda-developers i would start out with the more havs kernel and go from there.

also here is a guide to using setcpu:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/210253-setcpu-guide.html. just keep in mind that having to many profiles set up can also create battery drain. i would only recommend that you just set the govenor to smartass and to have a screen off profile and that is it. also make sure that you uncheck the set on boot option in the main menu, unless you know that your pone will be stable if you overclock it.

Ok so right now I'm running the android rom and I don't seem to like it
I miss sense cuz its more legit

ok so sense roms there are a ton out there. do you want to be current have gingerbread on your phone? there are gingerbread stock rooted roms. there are also roms that have sense 2.1 with some sense 3.0 built in. there are roms that are pure sense 3.0. you can get all of these roms on the rom/kernel sticky. i would start and try mikg2.2

as far as kernel goes, there is no custom kernel as of yet. we are waiting for htc to release the source code for the kernel. using the froyo kernels will make the rom to work properly.

now if you really want a custom kernel then i would flash any froyo 2.2 rom. they are also on the rom/kernel sticky. and i would use the netarchy toastmod more haves kernel to start.

well if you really need to have a kernel then you will need a froyo 2.2 rom. try mik froyo, or koni's elite iii, or myn's warm 2.2. try netarchy toastmod 4.3.1 havs more kernel.

but like i said there are a lot of cool roms that are out that have sense2.1 and sense 3.0. the easiest way really to know what you like is to try a bunch of them, just remember to make a nandroid backup before you do.

can't say for sure. every kernel reacts differently on different phones. i had to flash a few kernels to find the right combo. it also depends on the rom your are on as well. try this try mikg2.2 to start. it is stock themed but has gingerbread and sense 2.1 and sense 3.0 built in. it also has its own stock kernel. it gave me pretty decent battery life. but really the best way to know for sure is to go ahead and flash away. try different roms. try the froyo 2.2 roms and its kernels. just make nandroid backups so that any issues you have, you can always go back.
