I'm so on the fence between upgrading to either the Inc2 or the X2. I was originally looking at the X2, but there seems to be quite a few problems crammed in that big rectangle. Granted, some "fixes" have been found if your willing to root, run custom scripts, etc... but I want a phone that will work without potentially voiding my warranty.

The Inc2 looks awesome from checking it out at the VZ store, and the majority of the people on this forum seem to love it. I must admit though, the duel core processor, bigger screen and HDMI out keep trying to drag me back to the land of X.

Has anyone here tried the X2 and switched to Inc2 because of their experience with it?

I thought about it today, haven't played with the Inc2 much yet but it looks pretty decent. I have been having some issues with my X2 but everyone is saying it will be fixed with software updates which I would hope shouldn't be too much longer. I went into the Verizon store today to check out others to trade it in for but I am at 15 days so they wouldn't let me :(

Anyway, I can live down the problems for now because other than the few issues I have OCCASIONALLY, not even that much, I absolutely love the phone!

Yes, I have had the phone restart on me 3 times just this week which is why I wanted to get something else but everyone on the X2 forum is talking about that it is only a software issue and that is what the tech at Verizon said as well.

But yeah, the reboots, I have gotten corrupted videos where the video freezes, no issues with audio, no issues with lag either, that i one thing I have been really impressed with, how fast this phone is!

Here is the thread I started with some of my issues...

Other than that though, which doesn't bug me TOO badly, it is getting there though, but once they fix it, which hopefully they do in a software update this phone will be amazing!

I had the X2 for the full 14 days and took it back after I was on my 3rd device and it still wasn't running as fast as I would have liked. Also, I ended up not liking the qHd screen. I took it back and then went back to my D1 for 3 weeks and then bought the inc2 a week ago. Not even looking back. The 4" screen is perfect in my opinion, the phone just works, no force closes or reboots. I've downloaded the game order and chaos and it just flies! I did have to take my first unit back and exchange it out, the led static buttons were a little clouded over. But the unit worked great before I took it back, just a cosmetic thing. Plus, if you shop around, you can get the inc2 for dirt cheap, great phone, great price. What's not to like?

Thanks for your reply, brocja. The X2's screen looks good on paper, but the PenTile just looks plain terrible to anyone with a discerning eye for displays.

I was mainly liking the X2 for the dual core. I know the Inc2 flies now, but wonder how well it'll run the apps of 1.5 years from now. ...a lot better than my Eris, thats for sure.

I had 3 droid x s...they finally sent me a droid x2. Sorry but that phone they sent me was" horrible" !! Lag,the screen is a joke. Its was like Motorola put that phone together from spare parts !! The x worked very good, until the Gingerbread update. Then reboots like crazy.Tried everything possible(more detail if someone really wants to know). phones was rebooting in the middle of calls. No more!! I got a Droid Inc 2 and WOW,what a difference. Sense might not be for eveyone but it is 18 million times better than anything motorola has. In my opinion. I have has the inc 2 for 2 days now and so far so good.

I started with an X which I loved. Gingerbread killed it. Rebooting like crazy. I received 2 replacement Xs. Both came with gingerbread and both junk. Reboots and overheating as well. So they "upgraded" me to an X2. Wow its even worse. Rebooting not as bad but the music player can't even make it through a song with skipping and popping if you are doing anything else. Can't browse the web. No facebook. Nothing without the music crapping out. Talked to Moto tech support and they acted as if they had never heard of anything like that. Told him maybe he should google it. So Monday i'll receive my Dinc2. Its gotta be better than this X2. 5 phones in a month is a joke.

Yeah, that sounds like the standard X2 story that is populating their boards right now. It looks like a good majority of the X2's problems stem from a poor management of available memory. There is a custom script that (once you've rooted your phone) rewrites how the device views and handles memory. This seems to have fixed a number of those problems and sped up the phone as well.

Who wants to root their phone and run custom scripts just so their device can actually run, though?

Even if Motorolla fixes this issue in an OTA, the screen is still crap. No OTA can fix that. Granted, its screen is larger and higher res... but if you actually hold both devices in your hands the DInc2 just slaughters it. As soon as you turn the X2's screen away from a dead-on POV the colors (especially the red spectrum) fade away. There's also a lot of pixelation in 720p videos and very obvious color banding.

I've decided to get the DInc2. Should have it Wednesday. Looking very much forward to getting it, tweaking it (I've had an Eris since it's launch, so I've gotten somewhat good at tweaking an HTC device for performance and longevity) and taking some still shots and 720p video from my VIP seats at Mayhem Festival next Friday! MACHINE F***IN HEAD!!!!

lol ABR. I really wanted the X2... but there are just too many issues with it right now. And even if an OTA comes out to fix the stability issues... no OTA can fix PenTile :(.

Amazon shipped my DInc2 today! I can't wait to unleash the fury built up from days of geek-powered research into the phone. :D

You're not still within the 14 day window are you? If so, I'd say take it back to your local VZW store and politely return it for a DInc2.

Sadly, I went the other way. I bought an Incredible 2 and switched it for the Droid X2. What a huge mistake. HTC has better software, while Motorola's hardware is more robust. Motorola needs to clean house in their software division. They suck. I've never been more frustrated with a phone than the X2 - because of the software. The hardware is exactly what I want in a phone.

I get better cell reception with the X2 than I did with the Inc2, even though I get random reboots, have audio issues and video recording problems - all software related. The screen on my Incredible 2, while less pixelated than the X2, showed signs of light bleeding - similar to an EVO I owned. The pentile screen on the X2 was annoying at first, but isn't too bad compared to other phones. It looks better than an iPhone 4 with a non-glare screen protector, which is what I owned before the Inc2.

Honestly, if I could have a do-over, I would have kept my iPhone 4 or settled for the Inc2. The X2 is all but unusable with the current POS software on it. I may change my tune if Motorola gets their collective heads out of their asses and fixes the software issues although I'm not going to hold my breath. If they don't fix it, Motorola can count on one less customer in the future.

Although I'm coming from an older phone (Droid 2 Global), it sounds like maybe it has a lot of the problems the X2 has. The instability of the D2G is why I went and paid full price for the Incredible 2. I don't regret the purchase for a second. By comparison to the D2G, the Inc2 is solid and stable. That's not to say it doesn't have issues, but they pale in comparison to the D2G.

I am admittedly leery of any Motorola device at this point.

The pentile screen on the X2...looks better than an iPhone 4.

Now that is where I will disagree with you. I demand satisfaction, sir. I challenge you to a duel. Swords or pistols?

The retina display on the iPhone 4 is probably the best mobile screen that I've ever seen. I mean, it's pixels are just a few dozen microns in size, so small that they can't be seen by the naked eye. The difference in viewing angles is like comparing apples (pun intended) to giraffes.

Not to mention the i4's display is 326ppi, compared to the X2's 256ppi.

But, this is an android forum after all. iPhone is poo poo.

RIF, my friend. I wrote that the X2 screen looks better than the iPhone 4 screen with an anti-glare screen protector. I'm not an Android fanatic. I'm actually quite disappointed in the entire Android process. It's convoluted and unreliable as a whole, compared to iOS. I'm just a glutton for punishment.

Had 3 x's then one X 2. This was all in less then 5 months. Now have the Incredible 2 and not looking back. Having a few issues with getting use to the sence but it will come I guess. Had most of the same problems that everyone else had. Had more issues with the lack of support from Verizon, but one lady (And I really wish I could remember her name) went above and beyond with the replacement. So, Verizon is somewhat back on my good side.

Yeah, the Inc2 seems like the best choice right now if you don't need 4G, even if you did want 4G the Thunderbolt doesn't seem very good from what I've been reading. The only grip I have with my Inc2 is just after a few battery door removals it has a slight bounce in the bottom right corner...I have a case now & can't even tell, but I still know it's there. IDK why it started doing that. Anyone else have the battery door bounce?

I have not noticed this -as I have removed the door a couple of times as well- but I, too, have a hard case (Amazon.com: New OEM Verizon HTC Incredible 2 Shell Holster Combo w/ Kickstand: Electronics **love it!:D**) and am somewhat removed for the nuances of my DInc2's battery door.
