Bluetooth Earpiece Recommendation And Why.

I have been through a few Bluetooth devices, and some have worked great and other simply suck the bag, every time I have one that works great on both ends, then 6 months later it stops working, well most are still warrantied so they usually replace it, the issue is since it is 6 moths later they usually don't make that model and usually send you a comparison and never works like the one you have, so I wanted feedback from experiences as I am using a Motorola H730 which simply sucks, I can hear great but people do not hear me good, they have replaced it 3 times, I had the 715 prior and loved it, it had the mic on the boombox and not the unit itself, this 730 has it on the unit and does not come close, here is a chart I found also scroll through the forums, click HERE

I am a huge fan of the jawbone headsets, so thats all I use now. My jawbone icon was simply amazing and you can get them for a pretty good deal on ebay plus there are a lot of software options on jawbones website that adds functionality. I also just got the jawbone era and so far its proving itself to be a worth successor to the icon.

Does Jawbone tell you who's calling in the BT device, I also saw them at Costco, I will have to try it out, I have always mostly used Motorola as I do not like things in my ear, and the H series do not.

i tried the jawbone and found that the jabra for 39.99 was better than the jawbone for 59.99. it had better range and less "tinny" it may lack bells and whistles but it gets the job more than done

The jawbone icon calls out the number to you and the jawbone era calls out the persons name. Also you can load up different firmware from the jawbone website for that added personal touch to your headset, pretty cool stuff. The era which is the newer model also has excellent battery life compared to all previous jawbones which was garbage in my opinion. Now as far as fit though, thats the one thing I have never gotten used to with jawbones. To get those things to fit right with the ear loops it literally takes an act of god to accomplish. So I equip all my jawbones with jabra ear gels(perfect fit) so I can wear them in my ear and not worry about ear loops. I am the opposite of you, I would rather have it in my ear than around my ear.

Well before I went exclusively to jawbone I was also a huge jabra fan as well and personally the jawbones out performed the jabras in every way as far as my personal usage goes but of course my opinion is subjective. In general though bluetooth tech can be pretty flaky at times so who knows what other factors could have affected performance. But I am a man sold on jawbone and their noise cancelling technology, I can go outside on my mower and talk on the phone and the other person would have no idea that I am mowing my grass as I am talking to them. So needless to say every time a new jawbone comes out I end up buying it.

I use the H680. Not sure if it is available anymore. Got it from wireless emporium. It works great in and out. Holds a good charge and will works well up to about 30 feet. Charger is a little dock you put it in with a smoked clear cover to keep dust out when charging or not in use. I have used it with several different phones and it worked eaually well with all of them..

Its fun to be walking in a store like walmart and talking on it. People look at you like you are crazy...Had an older gentleman ask me what that was on my ear once. I told him and he just stood there.... he was bedazzled..LOL...

I've got the Motorola Finiti with stealth mode. It's the most over priced under performing disappointment I've ever bought. Poor range, constantly disconnecting after a call has ended, or I try to make a new call, and stealth mode is a gimmick at best, with a free ear callus after your first 5 minutes of wearing it. Motorola accessory customer service is a nightmare, and it was way too difficult to get the first one replaced under warranty. I give it two thumbs down and a fart.... Lol.

Will be following this thread to hear more about jawbones, etc before I sell this one on ebay.

The difference between the shadowbox and the midnight is just color and design but they are the same jawbone era headset.

What do you mean? I can listen to music using my jawbone icon/era anytime but of course the bluetooth headset itself must support that feature which is call a2dp if I am not mistaken.

The jawbone prime was awesome when it came out but that was almost 3 years ago. The jawbone icon replaced the prime early last year and the era replaced the icon earlier this year so don't get anything else other than the era if you go with a jawbone. The icon is great too if you can get a good deal on it but for what its worth just stick with the era.

Ive used Several different Bluetooth units. Plantronics, Jabra, BlueAnt, Motorolla, Jawbone......

From what I would find Best to worst......

#1 BlueAnt or Jawbone

They have the most functions per unit, good fit and feel. Good sound on both ends of sending and reviving. Media capable, Voice dialing and phone book and more. Currently im using the BlueAnt Q2 (ive also had the T1 and its great as well) It does it all and love it.

#2 Plantronics.. Have used the Voyager and some others. Not alot of bells and whistles BUT great function as a talking unit that gives good sound and sending.

#3 Jabra. Has some mid functions Decent but sound is worse then any of the above.

#4 Motorola. Absolutely wont ever use any Motorola BT sets every. all the ones I gad were horrible.

There are some others out there I havent used maybe others will chime in. But this is my experince.

Right now my Evo 3d with my BlueAnt is Awesome!! BTW BlueAnt also has software that works with Android Phones. It adds even more function. The standard function of the BlueAnt will upload your entire Phone book into the BT headpiece. It works GREAT with Voice/Speach. It plays Media from music to movie to Youtube or anything that plays as well as alert tones for text, Roam... etc. The additional Software allows you to set it for TExt to voice. So when you get a Text message it actually reads who its from and the text sent is also read to you via BT earpiece. Its quite smart as it talks to you and even guides you to pair and connect the set to your phone, it will communicate with you Via actual speech of its status and battery life. Speaking of that it like the Jawbone has a GREAT battery life.

+1 for the Blueant Q2. I had the V1 for my Evo and really enjoyed it. Especially the voice controls. The Q2 improves on the V1 in all areas. Light weight, good fit, voice controls/menus. Give it a try.

As this is my first bt, i am enjoying my jabra that was only $40.00, once i decide that i like the bt i will prob upgrade to a better, but as far as low end goes, this one works awesomely!

One thing I've come to find when shopping/buying a blue tooth unit is you get what you pay for. Most cases a cheap price means a cheap or poor quality unit. Low in features and reliability. Most of us buy good phones. Spend bigger money on the top units. Such as the HTC EVO 3d. So why cheap out on low quality bluetooth unit. Just my experince.

I love the Motorola H710 and H720 series. Why? Well to turn off the headset you flip the microphone down. It's easy and simple. No holding down buttons and hoping it's really turned off. No chance for it to turn itself back on in your pocket.

I haven't found a device that it doesn't Sync well with either. From my old Samsung Flip-phone, to my Moto-Q, to my Palm Pre, to my Evo3D, and even my Playstation 3... it works great.

The sound quality and volume level is great too and as an added bonus the headsets are CHEAP compared to other $100+ models.

H710 and H715 is much better than the H720 and 730, because the mic on the older models are on the boom, as for the 720 and 730 they are on the unit, and peeps cannot here you well if there is a little wind, thus the reason why the H730 I have is being replaced by Motorola and they found me a H715 like I had before, in the meantime I am bidding on a few Jawbone ERA on eBay

Yep, it sure was, my H715 stop working, and they replaced it and sent me a H720, I said WTF, yhen i tried it for a week and said no way, everyone I spoke to if I was walking they had trouble hearing me, then I got them to replace that one and they sent me a H730 which was the same but had dual mics, front and back of the unit, and that was the same issue, now they said they found me a H715 and are sending it to me, that was 2 days ago, I have not heard a word since, lol still awaiting shipping info, but you know Motorola

Alright, I just got my new Jawbone Icon (the thinker) from Amazon for $40 bucks shipped. It pairs nicely, and seems to work very well so far. People that were use to hearing me speak via the Motorola Finiti say that this one sounds a lot better! The Noise Assassin feature built into the Icon is phenomenal. I had the stereo in the car cranking to the point were I could hardly hear the caller, yet they could not hear the stereo at all. The Moto in Stealth mode could NEVER do that and people said I sounded like shit when I used Stealth mode anyway.

LOL sorry bro, well I am waiting to receive the Motorola H17 that they said they were sending me to replace the H730 they sent me, should of been here a few days ago, but still no BT, if I don't get it today I am going to call them and find out what the issue is. I am also looking around for a Jawbone Icon or Era

FYI call them and tell them it is not even a year old, you bought it at Costco, if they ask for your receipt simply tell them you don't have it anymore, worth a shot.
