Hey, i just received my SGS2 and have a couple questions.

Firstly, how do you tell the battery %?

Secondly, i have the Facebook app and it says 'sync with existing contacts' but this apparently doesn't work. I then added FB to the Social Hub and that did sync contacts but all of them, and i really don't want all my FB contacts in my address book. Is there a way to fix this so only existig contacts are synced?

Lastly, regarding the social hub again, is it best to set up email in that or using the default widget?

Thanks in advance

the social hub isnt an email app. u can set it up via social hub or the widget, it basically takes u to the same android email app. i added facebook to the social hub, but i didnt sync the contacts from social hub coz i dont think its customizable like the facebook android app. i suggest u remove the sync from social hub, and try the facebook app again. in the facebook app, there's an option to sync only existing contacts. click it, and maybe refresh/sync ur contacts again. it should work

I did that a few times, removed the account from social hub and sync existing contacts in the FB app but it doesn't do anything. The only way i could get FB info and contact photos was by syncing in the social hub.

thats strange. did u try selecting a google contact, selecting Join.. and seeing if there's a facebook contact in the background but not linked? i dont think this would work but i cant think of anything else. i have two facebook links on all my contacts.. i believe one is from the facebook app, which adds a facebook link/photo to the contact.. and another one i think from the social hub, which adds status updates

Yes, actually that's another problem - all my contacts from my emails and FB are in the 'unknown' group and i never instructed it to sync them at all. I prefer not having them and don't like the phone just deciding what i want. With regards to facebook what i had to do was sync all from hub, then remove the account. But then all the fb contacts are in 'unknown', which is better than them being in the main list but still not what i want

if u remove the sync from the hub and the fb app, do those contacts still show? can u remove them manually? i get annoyed by messy contacts too, haha. if theyre removed, then u could try setting the fb app to sync again.

and i just noticed ur first post, about battery percentage. if u havent already got it, u could get a battery widget. i use battery solo widget..

I installed the Sense clock widget which can also display system info including battery % underneath so i'm using that, thanks for the tip though.

Contacts, yeah they still show - currently the hub doesn't have my FB account in it and the contacts are still showing. I don't want to delete them manually because i have so many it'll take ages, and i don't want to start from scratch either because again it took me quite a while to sync them all up. I'm wondering if it's a bug in the phone as i've seen elsewhere other people reporting the same thing?

hmm. im running out of ideas. the sync for all ur contacts shouldnt take that long. maybe there is a bug. i guess ur last resort would be to remove ur contacts n try again. that sucks, i know

I guess i'll just have to live with it as it is, but thanks for the tips. If anyone has any further suggestions i'd love to hear them, but i'd really prefer not to start all over

Judging from my problem and yours i think there may be a bug in the SGS2 regarding facebook integration.

But in the setting will tell me that the contacts are syncs with facebook social hub ... but in the contacts it self it will still show the old status ( the facebook status it is showing on the screen along with contact photo when you call that contact) .. new status update will not show maybe for a day till it will e sync.!!!!

And on mine it has the option to sync facebook contacts with contacts already in the address book, but this does not work so i'm left with all my FB contacts in my address book - even after deleting the account. This isn't usual behaviour and neither is yours, so i think there's a bug.

I was having the same issue with all facebook contacts showing in my contacts too. I don't have my s2 on me right now as I write this because I'm on my work phone but from the top of my head here's what to do.. Go to ur contacts, press the menu hardware button (the one on the left) and there should be an option I believe called display.. Uncheck all social hub facebook contacts. If u can't find the option let me know and when I get home ill post a step by step when I have my phone to see how to do it, but it is possible! Also, u can set ur social hub facebook to sync 3, 6 or 12 hours with new contact info in the social hub options.

Thanks, that's helpful. Only problem is that only removes them from contacts, if i go to phone or messages and then select a contact it still shows everyone

ETA: just gone to my gmail and looked at contacts, they've all been updated (never knew they were even there so had lots of old/outdated contacts) with addresses and email addresses that i added when i got the SGS2, but no facebook stuff. So i'm kinda tempted to delete all the contacts from my phone, sync them from google again and try to add missing info from the facebook app, not the hub. What do you guys think? If it's a good idea is there a particular FB app that's recommended?
