Root [rom] miui4dx 1.8.19[updated 8/23/2011]

So I just have to share where I am with this set-up. Like I have said I am still learning a little bit more day by day on this.

With all your apps organized neatly in folders, why do you have 9 homescreens?

Technically yes and no. It could be the way your hardware is reacting to having MIUI or CM7 on it. How did you restore applications? Run with no apps on MIUI or CM7 for a bit and see if they stop. If so, start adding applications back...... that's really the only way I can think to troubleshoot it.

Yeah, I tried installing CM7 right over MIUI and installed no programs and it turned off one of the first times I locked the phone and has continued to do so. When I get the time, I may try and do another full 1-step installer or take the sbf to .340 route, but unfortunately I'm prolly gonna have to just switch back to .596 for now.

Yuck, good luck. :(

I love the transparent Galaxy S lockscreen theme. I liked the function of the lockscreen and the idea but I didn't really like having the call + SMS puzzle pieces when I didn't have a missed call or SMS - they just blocked a nice wallpaper and were kinda ugly.

The transparent version has the floating puzzle pieces set to transparent so your wallpaper remains mostly intact/visible all the time.

Much nicer. Also removes the "fit puzzle to unlock" instruction block, which I thought was ugly and obtrusive.

on the screenshots above, how did you get your clock to be centered on the notification bar like that? theme?

It is a mod, here is the link to it.

[MOD REQ] CENETERED CLOCK

If you do this make sure while you are in CWR to mount your system first. I tried it without doing that and it did not work, did not hurt anything just did not make the change. I mounted the system and then applied the zip and it worked.

I could not agree more, I went back and applied that yesterday afternoon and like it a lot better.

Also another note, double tapping on the clock will pull up the music player right above the date and time at the bottom.

I have a question about the music controls on the lock screen.

I can set the default music player in the settings. That was exciting because I've always had an issue where, if I'm listening to podcasts, all of the music controls (Bluetooth + lockscreen controls) always trigger my Google Music player. So I can't pause my podcast without unlocking my phone and navigating to the app or the widget.

I was hoping that I could set my default music player on the lock screen to my podcast player, and then I could pause music with my bluetooth controls, and podcasts by manipulating the lock screen controls.

Unfortunately, even when my lockscreen is set to Doggcatcher as default, it still activates my Google Music app when I hit pause. It can clearly see that Doggcatcher is playing because the control is a "pause" symbol instead of "play" but when I hit "pause" it starts up music instead of just pausing my podcast.

Ideas?

I saw some other people talking about how to make Google Music work on the lock screen and they said by making Google Music the default player it starting working on the lock screen as well. However it sounds like you have already done that so I can't think of anything. That would be great if it would work, then if you want to listen to podcasts you could just change the default player and then switch it back if you wanted to listen to music. I will mess with mine a little bit today....slow Friday at work and see if I can figure anything out as well.

Alright I use Pocket Caster (free app of the day from Amazon) and I changed it to the default player and went to the lock screen pulled up the player and the music player started. Went in and started a podcast and then went back to the lock screen and pulled up the player and now it is controlling the podcast, I can pause and restart, back-up and go forward. So not 100%, but still very nice.

Lol, came back to this after a day of liquid... I missed the cleanliness of MIUI. So update today if I'm not mistaken??

Also, how the heck do I get to clockwork recovery after I boot into MIUI?!

Boot into recovery through ROM Manager, be sure to press "Flash Clockwork Recovery" and then select "Droid X (2nd-init)" before pressing "Reboot into Recovery".

Problems needs verifying:

Last night I was playing music via the MIUI music app and my wife tried to call. It never ringed on my end. I tried several different times last night and every time the music was playing I never received a ring. Anyone else seeing this?

Can you get calls when not playing music? When I first loaded MIUI the ringer was set to "silent" as the ringtone.
