Not from Verizon, especially if you updated. It forces you to sign up for the Mobile Hotspot feature. If you got in on the 4G unlimited plan, then you can get Unlimited 4G for $30 extra a month I believe. Kind of silly when you consider that there are some apps out there that will let you buy from them for <$10.
Granted if Verizon realizes you're using it, there's speculation that they'll charge you for extra data usage so YMMV.
The hotspot came as a free promotion for a while (it was extended beyond the original deadline). However, the last major OTA eliminated the promo. BUT, if you didn't get / do the update, that's probably why you're still able to. I'd check your account to be safe though, make sure someone didn't con you into the hotspot tethering feature on your account without you realizing it.
That, and when did you get your phone? If you got it after the tiered pricing went into effect, make sure they didn't sign you up for a tether plan ($50 a month vs the $30 data only).
