Root Nandroid loaded on new handset?

I was wondering if anyone knew if a Nandroid backup from one Evo could be loaded onto another Evo?

My wife's phone is having the charging port issue, and we need to take it in. I'm running a Nandroid backup right now, as well as Mybackup Pro, then I'm going to unroot it and wipe it.

So I need to know if the Nandroid backup that I get from her handset can be loaded onto her replacement (both are Evos).

"Thanks" for any help!:)

unfortunately no nandroids are phone specific. so they will not work on a new phone. and if they give you a new phone it will most likely come with gingerbread which you cant root yet.

Thank you. Though luckily I was wrong.

When i swapped out my battery for hers, in order to power her phone long enough to run all the backups, I learned that my phone would no longer charge. In other words, it was a bad battery (very strange since it was the original battery and her Evo is only 2-3 months old).

So all they had to do was give her a new battery. Problem solved!

Thanks again for your help though. I will keep it in mind for the future :)

Now time to re-root her handset and flash that nandroid

Edit: And Gingerbread STILL hasn't been rooted!?!?
