Ok. i have money to buy a milestone finally, after selling my iphone. I just want to know, should I wait for the Canadian one? I would like the 3G on At&t. Or should I wait for the Nexus Two? I really want something good for my money. Also AuroaCell has ones with the 850 bands on it, check it out/

-Will the milestone be as fast as my iphone was?
-App store, is it good?
-Can I customize the crap outta my milestone?
-Pros for the phone in general?

P.S. I really like those Verizon commercials for droid where its like Droid Does/ So that was a pro for me, because whenever someone asks me what my phone can do, when I have one, I want to just say DROID DOES B***H. Lol that was a pro for me/

- your milestone will be faster than your iphone, in a lot of different ways too.
its like comparing an arcade machine (which is optimized for one function) compared to your computer at home (which can do alot more at the same time)
- app store..its good too..pretty fun to check whats new...i dont have access to paid apps though, and thats a negative for me.
- yes... u can change entire layouts of your phone/overclock/system access
- removable batteries/ memory

- It is as fast in everything except photo scrolling. Mine produces a bit of lag while swiping left/right. But not annoyingly so. Web browsing - prob faster, app launching - same, navigating menus/typin messages etc - same, if not marginally faster.

- App store. Depends on "is it as good". Tbh, no, its not as good yet. I base that purely on games though btw. Any utility or useful app, android will have an equal or better one, including a hell of a lot of apps the iphone doesnt have e.g. uTorrent controller where you can view/add/remove your torrent downloads on your computer via your phone wherever you are.
When i say not as good, I mean in terms of games. There are probably <10 games with the polish of iPhone games. But that literally improves every week or so with new ones announced. That's not to say android has bad games, there are some great ones, but it's definately lacking.

- Customize, yes. Load custom Roms, im not so sure. The milestone only got rooted (jailbroken) recently, so i dont have any experience with adding any of the new Roms or UI's to it. My understanding is that while the Droid has loads, they cant be used on the milestone. Maybe someone else can clarify that though.

- Very good battery, sweet screen, excellent build quality, Over-The-Air updates, "future-proof".

HOWEVER, if 3g is important, you'll be dissapointed. My understanding is that the EU Milestone won't support ATT 3G. I think you should wait for the Telus Milestone which will work, and will make the device soo much better!

Two things. What do you mean by no access to paid marketplace, I have heard the milestone has problems accessing the store to get paid stuff? is that true?

And Will the Milestone last me? With all the new devices, iphone 3gs, x10, the possible "zune phone" and the motorola and google phone, should i wait, or will the milestone be just as good compared to them and not be outdated

the 'app store' for android is split in two...1. paid apps 2. non paid apps
currently there are only a few selected regions that support the paid apps section as part of their beta testing.

milestone is newer, better and superior than iphone 3gs
milestone can be overclocked to run at speeds similar to x10 (only adv x10 has over milestone?)
i dunno much abt the zune phone
milestone is both a motorola and a google phone
in short milestone should last you a while.

If you're in the US, then don't worry about paid apps - you'll have access to them. Here in Ireland we don't. FYI it's not the milestone having issues viewing them - it's any android phone in a country that Google doesnt support paid apps for yet.

In terms of "lasting", id say yes. But it depends on what you mean.

In terms of the android OS and updates, yes it will last. The milestone has the hardware to take android updates for the foreseable future. Years i'd say.

In terms of apps, yes. It has all the necessary hardware to cater for any type of app that comes out, including a GPU (graphics processor) to support iphone quality games using OpenGl 2.0 when they start appearing.

In terms of build quality, i cant say - depends on how you treat it! But it feels very solid.

In terms of camera & video recording? This I don't know. The video recorder is good - just do a youtube search for milestone or droid test videos and you can see. The camera, is adequate. The android 2.0.1 update improves it apparantly though (havent got it yet). It's certainly better than the iphone's camera anyway, and possibly the best android camera atm, but that won't be for long. The motorola motoroi is coming out with an 8 mega pixel camera with zenon flash, which will be amazing. However the milestone's camera HAS the hardware to be excellent, itl just take a couple updates from motorola to improve.

The only thing the phone's missing which you may want at some point, is support for hi-def video and tv-out / hdmi (which the motoroi will have). But that's not necessarily must-have.

Ultimately its down to what you want from it. The good news is that i reckon the milestone will hold it's value well, especially with updates, so if you decided to sell a year down the road you wouldn't lose much on it (assuming its in good condition!).

Phew:p
