Metro PCS has 3G now!!!

Down south in Pleasant Grove the 3G runs at full signal but in the CBD it will occasionally show the 3G signal but once you try to use any data at all it'll switch to 1x. Well if your prl is different I would like to know which one you're using. Thanks for the meid calculator it worked great! I now have my spc code. Forgive my ignorance but what is qpst and can you tell me where you went to change your prl? Did you use the method above?

I didnt do anything after that. It just popped up with the 3g icon after the phone rebooted. I was shocked that it worked seeing that the service is terrible in my house anyways. And I also got 1 bar where before i had none and had to have the phone positioned just right to send a txt message.

But from what I read on here its not working in GA yet.

I'm In St. Petersburg and Plant City isn't far so this gives me hope. But is there anyone who can give me some advice on getting QPST to see my phone on XP? Most of the people who are able to get prl 3020 seem to be on windows 7. I'm seriously thinking of installing 7 on my laptop as a last resort just to get this to work... but there has got to be a way to do it on XP....

I had trouble adding my phone to qpst at first. When you go to add a port in the configuration of qpst uncheck the box that says show serial and usb\qc diagnostic ports only.
 
I just went into town. It must be lakeland that has 3g. In plant city I have 1x still. Since I get 3g at home just outside of lakeland. It must be there
 
So, I happened to be on my phone, getting ready to make a call, and I noticed I have a 3G icon again.....with PRL 3019, and not 3020! Go figure.....

The speeds are noticeably different when I download an app. I pulled down a 2.6MB app in 2 minutes, as opposed to the 15-20 it might have taken on 1x.

I'm in the Dallas area, by the way.

mines was also, and i was still on 3019, lol that's metro for ya...;)

Lol and I just figured out how to get 3020 back! Sending this with my 3g so I can't be too upset.
 
Was going to try it, schedule got very hectic, was gonna do it today...and now I see this before I even had a chance.

I live in North Metro, Gwinnett and no 3g here, but they are heavily advertising the 3g and now 4g, saw it in 2 seperate stores and when I saw the signs I wished my phone would do that. I would teether it and be a wifi spot when I needed it!!

I called *228 and it did not give me an option, gave me voice commands and told it to download the new roaming list, have not left the battery out but will try that next. I just rooted the phone and might do the cm7, just getting used to doing all of this now!!:o
 
I also wanted to say I went to the Metro PCS site, looked at the 4G map and Metro Atlanta is covered, but just south of my location. I will have to see if I can get that 3020 prn, my phone has 3019. No mention of 3g on their site, funny!!
 
Gamo, the only advice I can give you, is if you already tried updating the PRL, wait it out.

That's what I was Semi-forced to do, since I couldn't get around to tinkering with it from nutt's post.

I looked at the 4g coverage in my area also. i notice the only time i get 3g is when im in an area thats not covered by 4g. Now this is just around my town I have yet to venture over to the next town that has far better coverage than here.
 
Well it finally happened for me!! however it did not last long enough for me to get a screenshot... but I had the "CDMA EvDo rev. A" showing in my phone status... but i did not have any data icon what so ever in my notification bar... this is why i looked in my status in the first place... I'm running prl 3020.

I'm located in Largo/Indian Rocks Beach Florida area...

I was in the St. Petersburg area this morning working, and did not look at my phone then... so it my be "left over" from when I was in St. Petersburg... I'll be in St. Pete again tonight across from the Tyrone Mall... will report more later...

Well no luck in St Pete last night... never changed from 1x ... Oh well, it is a waiting game I guess! :)

Nice! If nothing else at least it looks like its creeping this way! Im up in Pasco.
 
OK Found the elusive 3G in the Tampa, FL area!!!

I found it tonight heading south over the Howard Franklin Bridge (I-275) about 1 mile north of Exit 31, I noticed my service went to CDMA EvDo rev. A (Actually it went CDMA EvDo rev.xxx first) and held while I exited the Ulmerton Road exit towards Largo... it stayed at 3G all the way till I got to Hwy19... then it went back to 1X...

So along Ulmerton Rd between HWY19 and the ramp for I-275 there is 3G!!

Anyone in that area... please post your results...
