Been looking for an app to do screen grabs. Searched the market and the free ones all hve low ratings. The paid ones are all higher which is good, but makes it difficult for me to decide. Who has what and how do you like it? Simplicity of it?

*if you're not rooted, please move on. These apps require root, and therefore you won't be able to help.

Yeah, so you just install the android sdk, and wherever you installed it (in the folder) you can find /tools/ddms.bat and ddms basically detects all devices and can get the live screen shot of it at any time in the correct resolution too. Make sure to have drivers installed that was the hardest part for me. Also there is an alternative that "records" your screen its called droid@screen and all you have to do is give it the path to adb.exe (which should be somewhere in your %appdata%/ roaming i believe) and it will capture your phone's screen over and over about 5 times a second(at max) to create a video-taping effect. It's great for presentations but not games where there is a lot of movement :) because the picture gets distorted. Here is the link to Droid@Screen: Droid@Screen | RiboComments. and here is a link to how to use ddms: How to Screen Capture your Android Phone? - YouTube

*PS you can save still images with droid@screen also (in jpg format).

:D darn isnt that what we are all looking for? no root, no hassle, just on phone. There's no root screen shot in the market thats more hassle to get running than installing the SDK...i think ddms is the easiest. honestly how hard can installing the sdk be :| just download, put it in a folder and hit install...but if you dont wanna hook your phone to pc to get screenshot then...well I've looked everywhere for an app that does not require root and not found anything so I guess droid@screen and ddms is all the aid i can offer :D.

On the market "No Root Screen-Shot it": https://market.android.com/details?id=com.edwardkim.android.screenshotitfullnoroot&hl=en

Here is what you have to do to make it work >.> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbbnu1JoyII&feature=player_embedded
