I had the same problem and found out the WIFI was the biggest battery eater. Shut off your WIFI & GPS and you will be a much happier camper. My phone went from 12-15 hrs and the battery was used up to now I can go 2-3 days. What is going on is the WIFI is trying to connect to an hot spot all the time. Just toggle it off until you need to use it if you do. You can toggle both the WIFI & GPS off by going to the top of the screen and dragging down that menu where each application I speak of has its own icon. Tap the icon to toggle off/on .....

Good luck :D

Wifi scanning is a huge issue on this phone because att has it set up to look for att hotspots and auto connect.

you possibly also have a couple of apps that are syncing in the background...

look for and install the app spare parts... there are several things you can use it for, including tracking battery usage.

you can also do this without spare parts to an extent

menu.settings.about phone.battery use.

check out the items listed...check the settings in those items

back completely out of apps with the back button vs home button

set your screen brightness to auto

check the refresh interval of things like facebook etc..you don't need it to refresh every hour

gps only polls when called upon...so assuming you don't have an app polling it, it isn't using your battery

those are just a few tips...there are literally hundreds her on android forums and thousands online. Almost all of them are great tips for any android device

in my case I was not happy with battery life until rooting. my phone can literally go days now with no usage and no charge...and with screen on doing stuff I can make it well into 15 hours or so before swapping batteries.

I'm going to have to disagree here. I don't belive WIFI has anything to do with it. I have WIFI on (not connected), BT on, and listen to Pandora through BT headphones all day at work. My battery makes it all day. it's VERY low at the end of the day, but it makes it.

In my my opinion, for what it's worth... you either have a defective battery or a run-away app. Try a factory restore, if that doesn't work, get a new battery

Also do what Mr Ed says and check syncing intervals with FB, email, twitter,g-mail, calendars, etc whatever you may use on a daily basis

Trust me on this one it makes a huge differences anyway it did on mine. Like I posted the only thing I changed was toggled the WIFI off and it went from a 12-15 hr battery to days. What has the OP got to loose by just toggling WIFI off but each his own

Turning off wifi really helps, and gps too. If you also ever feel more comfortable with your phone you can upgrade to the 2.1 infused rom. It really helps me out i will come from a full day before i would have 30 percent battery now its 65. A couple days ago i was nervous about it but now i am a flashaholic haha. Just make sure if you do anything like this follow directions. Also listen to Mr. Ed like someone else said. He is probably the smartest person here.

I swear these devices are so vastly different depending on all the personal setting each user sets. That's why i prefer Android, however it makes trouble shooting a crap shoot. Your battery goes from hours to days by just turning off WIFI, mine on the other hand has no noticeable effect on battery life. But like you said "to each his own", i prefer to use my phone to it's full potential and don't mind charging it every night. Also i use WIFI at home and actually recent studies show that WIFI uses much less battery than 3G/HSPA when actually connected.

Infused 2.1.0!!! FTW

I would definitely suggest turning off wifi when not connected to a network, if I accidentally leave it on all day it will be my biggest battery drainer.

And Mr. Ed I believe you could at least take the title as 'most helpful'!
