Something inside the sealed camera lens compartment

There is a little peice of white thread hanging out from the periphery towards the center lens in my camera. It looks sort of waxy, and it looks like part of it got sandwiched, squished and stuck to the lens mechanism. Part of it is in a ball. I have never seen anything like this before. Is it by design? Or is it junk left by the assembly person?

I have a couple days left to return my phone for a refund. I'd rather do an exchange because I want to keep this phone but the store where I bought it is sold out and might not restock it. The camera seems to be working fine. I am just afraid because part of the wire/string has been pinched, the ball end might snap off from weakness of the pinch and then cause major trouble preventing auto focus.

Could everyone check their camera lens to see if they have something similar? Be warned you have to be in a bright room and have pretty good eyesight to notice it. Or use a good camera in macro mode.

Thanks for any assistance.

I have the same white thing but only on the first upper front len and it is barely visible. I don't think it can cause any problem..

Man, you must have an excellent camera to take these pictures. Anyway I had a look at my Gio and I see two dots but not that big. Personally, I wouldn't sweat it. It might be a bit of goo that is used to focus the camera lens during assembly. If you think it might influence the reseller value, I would return it though.
