TB owner in need of some help

First, I'd like to say that while I'm a happy TB owner, I'm not a fanboy and know enough to not be closed minded. Here's my issue...I'm a phone junky and get them quite often. Long story short, my wife benefits because she here my hand me down phones as soon as I get a newer one and the Incredible I gave her this March when the TB come out is starting to go a bit weird. So, as always, she allows me to take her upgrades and mine and since she is due, I'm wondering if I should use her upgrade to get myself the Bionic and give her my TB. Again, I LOVE my TB because I haven't had any of the issues reported and since I'm not new to smart phones, I always get an external battery charger and keep charged spare batteries on hand. So, I've never been bothered by poor battery life. I suppose I'm asking you for a fair opinion about if the Bionic is THAT much better than my current phone. I'm going to ask the same question over on their forum to see all the sides and make up my mind. I'm only concerned because I like my current phone (I'm sure I can like the Bionic too) and I'm realizing that I can't keep getting new phones so often, one because of money and two they aren't letting me do 1 year contracts anymore. Thanks, all. I really look forward to your help.

Honestly....if you arent having any problems...the only reason to get the Bionic is to have the latest phone.

Unless you plan on taking advantage of the laptop dock and other accessories.

Yea its dual core, yadda, yadda, yadda...lol, but the only way you can decide this is to try it for yourself. You can get it and if you dont think its worth it or dont like it, take it back.

I actually am a Moto Fanboi however even i say to wait till at least December or when the next Nexus device is announced. Whichever comes first. By then we'll know all we need to know about the Bionic and or the Nexus Prime aka whatever they officially call it.

I think if your coming from the ThunderTurd you can wait a little longer and be ok.

^Yea thats true. If the T Bolt really isnt giving you any problems, wait it out to see what else is coming. Another choice for a phone is always good.

I was gonna wait, but my Droid X1 had an unfortunate accident at the hands of my girlfriend...lol And the way my money is right now...I might dont have a choice but wait...

Thanks, all. If my wife's Incredible wasn't starting to act funny I would have never even thought about budging, but since it is, it got me thinking. I'd love to get some viewpoints from someone who can compare both my TB to the Bionic...and anything rumored for the best future. I guess I don't want to miss my TB too much if I hand it over to the wifey. Thanks again.

I'd hold onto my device as long as I could if there's nothing wrong with it, and the next device wasn't so far ahead of what I had. I had approximately zero interest in the Droid X and Droid 2 last year because my OG Droid was every bit as capable, and still running smooth. Sure, those phones were improvements, but not head and shoulders above my OG. It took the Bionic, plus my OG dying a slow death to make me yearn for a new phone.

The kicker here is your old DInc. If it's no longer up to par and needs to be replaced, then sure, get the Bionic. But you're going to have to wait till next November to satisfy your yearning for something new. And by then, they'll be talking about octo-core phones. :p

What particular problems is her DInc having? Is it rooted? I know there's a huge dev community out there for it and perhaps a new ROM could help it out. However, if both of your phones can squeeze out another month or so, I'm look forward to the Prime.
Fortunately, I'm in the same boat as you, using my upgrade for the Bionic and using my wife's for the Prime and giving her the Bionic.

Her Dinc is not rooted. Her text are coming in messed up. Some of her contacts are mysteriously getting the number 1 put in front of their number, like you had to do in the old days for standard dialing, yet when you do that with cells, calls or TEXTS won't DP through. Just weird stuff.

My girl has the Incredible ( I use to as well). She was having issues so I installed the latest RUU and the phone is perfect again. I still think it's the best phone out there without 4g.

I was seconds away from getting the Bionic but have decided to wait. I do not believe you will regret your decision to wait.

Thanks all for the advice. I appreciate the honesty. I just asked my wife if she thought she could deal with the small issues for a bit longer as it would give me more time to see the players in the upcoming wave of new phones. Thankfully, she is totally cool with that. She probably cares less than I do; I have a thing for phones and want her to have a great working one.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but I could use some TB owners who pick up the Bionic to give a report on the 4G/3G radios - I find the TB is almost unusable in 4G areas due to the fact that it many times when not getting a strong 4G signal refuses to switch to 3G and therefore I generally have no data at all without resetting the radio constantly or switching to 3G full-time (which defeats the purpose). I live in LA so we are covered with LTE here.

I'd appreciate any comparisons of the 4G radio and switching compared to Thunderbolt if anyone has switched over to Bionic. Thanks.
