Hi All.......

I have been a bit of a lurker on the forums here for a while but have now decided to join the party ;)

I have found so much information on here and read and read and read.......so much that my little brain hurts.

Anyway........i'm confussed:thinking:

I have a stock ota upgraded to 2.2 Orange branded Black desire and i have had it just over a year so guess it is outside of warrenty so wont be returning it to them if i have a problem but still have a year left on the contract.
My problem is the same old space issue and i have got fed up with it now.

I have 5 apps installed that i have put on the phone.
Angry Birds
Ebay
Facebook
LogMeIn
and a Beamwidget for a touch light

Then also in the downloaded tab there is Adobe Flash 10.3, Gmail, Maps and Market which i have not downloaded myself these are just the stock app that were on the phone and have been updated i'm guessing??

This to me does not seem like i have to many app, how many do other have on their Desires??

As im looking at my phone now i have available space of 14.58MB the phone is telling me i'm running low on space and i can't even update Angry birds to the latest version as there is not enough space.
There are 11 Orange branded apps/demo games that i can't get rid off so have been looking on here to see what i need to do..........

So I thought if i debranded and put a generic HTC rom on the phone i would loose all the Orange crap and free up space but then i read that this wont free up space as the orange crap is not with where apps are store is this correct??

I like the phones UI so don't really want to loose this and also like the facebook for sense stuff that links profiles to my phone contact so don't really wont to loose this either (but have read this uses a lot of memory??).

So if i root and flash with a custom rom am i going to loose the facebook for sense that i like and the htc UI that i also like and if the operating system space is fixed how will installing a custom rom give me more space also?? (or does this alter the space for the operating system to make more space for other stuff??)

So in a nut shell I dont want to change this and change that, overclock this under volt that...........
I just want the phone to work as it is but have space to put a few more apps on.

Sorry for the long post i hope someone take the time to read it all and guide me in the right direction

Thanks in advance

Mark

many custom roms are sense based so you dont have to lose anything. You need one with a2sd+ / init.d support to allow a2sd+

Teppic74 has a rooted stock 2.2 and 2.3 version available which is simply HTC sense android + a2sd+ for which you need to partition your sd card.

Your warranty is 2 years though and this will void. You cant return an orange desire back to stock either as there is no official utility for orange so think carefully before you do anything.

if ur not to sure what to do dont do it, but if your confident in what your doing go for it.

Was going to ask that ........ so if I root then have a warranty issue I could flash to 2.3 from HTC site and this would allow me to return it?

Also just before I do any of this I'm going to do a factory restore to make sure I have not got something hidden that I've installed......as my phone was shipped with 2.1 will it go back to 2.1 and then have to download 2.2 again from Orange.

Is the 2 year warranty with Orange or HTC? I thought (via goldcard) you could RUU to wwe stock, and still get warranty through HTC?

Just rest to factory settings........installed everything i had before plus a few other apps and still got 84mb left.
Not linked my face book profile to sense yet.........how much internal space does this use??
Maybe i dont need to do anything and can leave it stock!!

qare you using the dgb 60 hboot are standard?
you can move apps 2 sd via manage applications

if you are not using the dgb hboots then you are missing out of a ton of space
