Does anyone disagree?

I gave up my EVO 3D after experiencing random crashes, lockup and reboots on 2 different phones. I really liked the phone, but the stability was not there for me. This is not about bashing HTC as my past 4 phones have been HTC and I was happy with most.

Everyone that holds this phone loves the curved corners. I just feels right in your hands. The stability of this phone is fantastic, just as good if not better than my EVO 4G.

I really like the character spacing on the keyboard. I find it much easier to type. The voice recognition is the best I have ever seen. The external speaker is great! The bluetooth quality is good also. The radio in this phone is strong. I had problems with my past phone going into roaming, where the Photon does not. I could go on, but I won't.

The Photon is a good phone but there's some things I didn't like about it.

Screen is bright but lacks in colors.

Phone also doesn't seem to support all my HD MP4 files where the Evo 3D did.

Lastly the development community is dry on the photon.

Il probably go back to the Evo 3D today. Do a evan trade for the 3D on craigslist.

I like the photon but the display and small dev community was a deal breaker.

I love it. And there are specific things that Motorola does that suits my needs perfectly compared to HTC. I use my phone for both personal and business reasons and the MoPho really does provide me with all the tools I need to take care of everything in my personal and business life. Quite honestly, I wish the EVO was exactly like this phone last year. If it was, I wouldn't have upgraded after only 1 year.

I already traded. Put it on Craigslist last nite. Did the trade about a hour ago.

The photon is a good solid phone but the 'Black Crush' and lack of color in the display was killing me.

Plus like I said lack of custom roms because of the locked bootloader was a deal breaker. It is a excellent phone though. Camera was nice cell reception was nice battery lasted long but that display killed it for me. I have a lot of music videos and HD content on my memory card so I need a good display.

Bootloader has been unlocked for awhile and anyone who can follow the original dockless root instructions has the skill to unlock it. I think the main reason it hasnt had the custom roms like others is because it wasnt hyped like the 3D, the E4GT is coming, Bionic just came out, and other huge phones. Im hoping as time goes along people will eventually port CM7 over to the Photon but it wont kill me if they dont. Im thinking of trying the Blur based roms that are supposed to speed the phone up. Im happy with its speed now but it would be interesting to see how it does being even faster.

At the moment, unlocking the bootloader breaks WiMax which I need. There is a method to install a custom recovery without unlocking the bootloader but the decent roms required the full custom recovery installed.

I may return to the photon as time goes on and more devs jump on board. Same for the 3D it took a minute before development jumped off.

Not true, they've figured out how to keep 4G after unlocking the bootloader. It's not exactly simple but you can do it. It's true that the development has slowed down on the Photon, but I suspect it will have steady (if not prolific) development.

Edit: forgot to mention that the Photon is an awesome phone that is at least the equal of the SG2 in my eyes. Does the SG2 do some things better? Sure, but for my needs the Photon is perfect.

Development is prob slow because the phone doesn't need to be hacked and romed to work correctly. Out of the box it was solid and 2 updates in the first 6 weeks have fixed problems some have had.

Samsung phones will have the huge dev effort because, while their hardware is nice their software updates and support are crap. They broke the Epic with a very very late Froyo (over 6 months later then they projected) and never bothered to fix it.

I like the ability to flash ROMs, but I'd also like stock to be an option and with the Photon and Evo3d it is. Photon was just better then the Evo3d IMO but i would have went with it if the Photon didn't exist.

Agreed, Samsung's piss-poor software support in the past just disenchanted me with their devices.

The Photon is the first Android phone that doesn't give me the urge to root.

I don't know if it's Sprint's best phone to date. But I know I'm pretty impressed, so far. But I've only been using it for about a day now.

Had to replace the EVO, and the (reportedly) better radio quality in the Photon is primarily why I chose it over the Epic Touch. In that regard, it has not disappointed me. 3G has been solid for me, especially on the fringes of Sprint's coverage - something that the EVO couldn't do.

The sound quality for phone calls did take me by surprise. This may be the first phone in 10 years that sounds as good as a landline.

Even after loading up all my apps (maybe 30 or so), there's still plenty of room and no effect on speed. If I decide to root, it won't be until after ICS comes out. Given Motorola's better track record (compared to HTC and the EVO) with getting out updates, I'm hoping we won't have to wait too long for ICS.

I'm just amazed out how fast tech moves, sometimes. I remember being wowed by the EVO. Now, in comparison, it seems slow and kind of kludgey. Which means that in 20 months or so when I'm up for replacement, I'll really get my socks blown off! :D

Agreed. I have no urge to put a ROM on this Phone (Photon). Just Root for My Back Up Pro and Titanium Backup. Best phone I have ever had. Battery Life is AMAZING. My wife went to Disneyland on Saturday from opening 8:00a.m. to 11:00p.m. and still had 30% left. Incredible Battery Life. On my OG EVO I would have changed Batteries at least 2x
