I have a question... IF this phone is not a pure android phone, meaning VZW fills it with bloat... does that also mean updates will be dependent on Samsung?

While I would prefer no bloat, rooting and removing it is not a massive inconvenience... but regarding Samsung's history with updates I may just go with the HTC Vigor... especially on a new version of Android which will have more than a few bugs during the early months.

I'm confused. I'm tired. I'm frustrated. I'm a bit disappointed......I'm going to bed. Have this all cleared up for me by the morning, please and thank you.

NOW THAT IS THE QUESTION. I sure hope not.

My feeling is that if it's filled with bloat, it will also be TouchWiz. Meaning, it will not be a Nexus device in any sense of the word. Which means that it will depend on slow Sammy for updates. (Although I think that Verizon will slow it down much more than Samsung ever could.)

If this is the case, I can still handle it. But if it doesn't have ICS out of the box, Prime is dead to me. I can only put up with so much.

Vigor looks great, and it is actually real. FCC, leaked pics, the whole shebang.

My sister texted me earlier today and I just saw it. She says:

I don't think anything has changed on Prime. If it was canceled there would be a lot of chatter. There's nothing.
I'm starting to think that P3Droid just found out what many of us already thought to be true, that the Prime is going to be bloated like a body that's been in the river for a month.

When BGR came out and said it was going to be called the DROID Prime, p3Droid and black_man_x called BS and said there was no way it was going to happen.

They probably just found out that it will, indeed, be a DROID phone, meaning bloat and Touchwiz, and P3Droid no longer thinks it's as great as it could have been.

Edit: Again, I'm reminded of the BGR article that said Verizon was passing up the SGSII in favor of an "almost identical" phone. I think the Prime is going to be, essentially, an SGSII with LTE. Whether it has ICS or not remains to be seen.

Same here. ICS is SO close to completion that it would be insane to get a phone now with Gingerbread on it and then hope & pray for an update that may or may not ever come.

If Black_Man_X is hyping up the season with "lots of stuff and goodies", then Prime won't be the only player this year. As much as I want to retire the Droid, she may have to string along faithfully for even longer now

Mine too, but for me, it will be either Prime or Vigor. I'm not waiting longer than Black Friday. By then, Prime will either be released or be dead in the water. Vigor will have ample reviews to pour through.

I know that as soon as end of November arrives, there will be rumors of 5" HD screens with ICS, second-gen LTE, etc., if we only wait 1 more month!

I won't.

Guys guys guys guys! What're you talking about! Take your own OG DROI in the hand and look at this. Does it have any bloat? Are there any even tiny modifications to the UI or OS? Think a while..! Prime (if this is Nexus) will not have any smallest peace of modification. Why? Because this is google. Google rules here, and if Verizon wanted to shame their flagship device they would rather kick them in the middle of the ass - and take their beast back to the office. Believe me - if it has any bloatware - this is not Nexus Prime, and you will not have to care about it than. ;-) Believe me.

When it comes right down to it, I don't think many of us care whether what we get is a true Nexus device or not. I know I don't.

All I want is:

ICS
HD screen at least 4.3" that is smooth and vibrant
LTE
1.2GHz or faster
1 GB RAM or larger
At least 16GB freed up for storage
semi-decent battery life
non-brick form design
unlocked bootloader (but not a deal breaker)
easily rooted

That's it. Whether it's a true Nexus device or not, I could care less. I just want this phone, sooner rather than later.

Uuuu.. so you now showed me something i didn't expect... We're here because of the Nexus brand! That's all now! If it is not a nexus it won't have ICS too, don't even delude yourself. First ICS device in the universe will be nexus with poor google experience. It will, don't deny.

So, if you want only an ICS device with 1.5 GHz 1 GB RAM etc, go somewhere else, eg. SGSII LTE has specifications as mentioned, and will surely get ICS, or it will get CM 8 support soon. Or you could simply flash some custom AOSP ICS rom in the future.

The biggest emotions about this device are about the NEXUS - and that's what are we waiting here now.

Apparently, Droidguy might turn out to be a tad bit more credible than what we originally thought.

Tech Hog posted this yesterday, which I read and fully agreed with:
A Samsung Prime gets a hands on? Not so fast… | TechHog.com

Then today they posted this:

Nexus Prime hands on – It is the real deal and with a Metal Case | TechHog.com

We'll see what droidguy comes up with today. Don't know why he couldn't have posted the whole stupid thing from the beginning.

Still looks very fishy, but if one skeptical guy talked to Droidguy and is now convinced, it makes me at least a little curious.

And if Prime does have a metal chassis, that is good news.

No, we're here because we thought this would be the new shiny that had all the features we've been longing for. I don't know that any of us are brand-committed. If I were a lesser person I'd insert a snarky comment about Apple iPhans but I won't :p
