Right? I was happy to get 8 hours out of that battery.People who want to save battery have obviously never owned a Evo.

I meant on my EVO, and that was only texting. This thing I abuse the hell out of it with apps constantly running and using it all day long and its still good to go when I get off work.I get a minimum of 8 hours. It's AMAZING. Mad props to Motorola, Google, and nVidia!
I read an article a couple of weeks ago (can't find it now, of course!) saying when there is a wifi signal available, stay connected to it to save battery. The theory is that when you're not connected to wifi your phone is constantly searching for the closest tower. When you're connected to wifi your phone doesn't have to search at all.
I tested the theory myself & found it to be dead on. I literally got over 24 hours on a single charge, staying connected to wifi. Could be coincidence, yes. I haven't tried it again since that time. But for me to get 24 hours on a single charge was AMAZING!! I wasn't using it heavily, I guess you could call it moderate usage.
I changed the setting on my photon to NOT turn off wifi when the phone was sleeping. If you read the helpful hints that came pre-installed on the Photon it tells you to do the opposite. They're supposed to be the experts so maybe it's just a coincidence. If I can find that article I'll post the link. It may have been in another forum.

people, i was just giving you a tip. it really does save battery(even though the battery life is already amazing). whenever you have it on any other setting than "Sprint Only", if you ever lose signal, you start roaming! this means your phone is searching for a signal thus wasting battery. trust me, i got a whole 48 hours before dying. this is especially handy when you know you might lose signal or are in a metal/steel building
That's great! But if I am about to lose signal and in a metal building (my work for example), I WANT it to go into roaming so I can receive txts and phone calls. If I leave it on Sprint Only, I get nothing because the signal is so bad. it really does suck because the cell tower for sprint is slightly over a 1/4 mile away and its signal barely goes through the building. Verizon on the other hand uses a tower slightly further and in a different direction, but their signal goes through the building much better.
a true noob question ....is there a set way/ settings to save on battery life with a mopho coz sometimes mine goes dead before the end of the day with little use ?
thanx
First thing you need to do is figure out what stock and downloaded apps that you have on the phone that are pulling data consistently. Make sure that if you have apps that continually pull data (but you don't need them to), you adjust the settings on those apps to update less frequently.
Next, keep 4G, wifi, and bluetooth untoggled until you actually use them. There are several different apps that can allow you to have quick toggle (or you can even use the stock widgets).
Lastly, make sure that your brightness on the phone is not set to full brightness all the time.
After you've gone through all those steps, your battery life should be much better. "Little" use is all relative to different people's situations. It's hard to determine what you define as "little" use because that may be considered "normal" to some. So, if you want to get an evaluation on why your battery dies by the end of the day, it'd be helpful to have a breakdown of what you would consider "little" use.
i don't have any 4 g in this area, i do have wifi on when at work because there is no reception where i am at work( while at home none..straight 3g), google maps, text app(stock moto), all emails are synced every 4 hrs(only 2) and a few gaming apps but only play them when charging so.....i have been using the airplane setting at work which helps. and i have the battery usage on the phone set to the middle one( regular usage but shuts/slows down at night) and the breakdown of usage is mostly on stand-by like 50 % or a bit more a distant second is apx 17 % and calls(roaming??) to automatic....oops i'm not rooted either
could it be the battery.....if so is there a way to check it with out going to the sprint store.
hope this helps some
thanx again dude
Try toggling GPS off, while you're not using it.
