Anyone else not happy that phones keep getting bigger?

Gotta say while i love Android and the upcoming tech behind new smart phones i am abit troubled with the constant move towards a 5+ inch screen size.

Don't quote me on this but with the rumored screen size of the Prime hitting 4.5" and now this other new Samsung around the corner at 4.7" along with other manufacturers i really hate to see phones continuing to get larger.

I own a 4.3 and to me that's a little to large. 4" imo is kinda the sweet spot. The only reason i bring this up is because as smart phone developers currently seem to stand (imo) the only way to get the latest tech is to also get the phone with the largest screen. I really don't want to have to lug around a tablet on my belt clip in the future. ~Thoughts?

I think the trend is to provide more variety of form factors to people. The manufacturers are simply filling the void between the 4.3" and 7" screens. I think that there will be a variety of screen sizes for everyone. It's just that at this time, the larger than 4.3" screens are being pushed because there is a new untapped market segment that these manufacturers are trying to capture. Rest assure that if you want a screen size less than 4.5", you will be able to find a phone of a size that you like when it is time to get a new phone.

New phones seem to make better use of the space so the size doesnt increase as much as you might expect.

But the trend is certainly suggesting they will continue increasing in size, Galaxy S III is rumours to be 4.6" and the new Galaxy Note will be 5.3" but that's a cross between a phone and tablet.

Anyway, there more than enough choice out there for users who want small and large screens.

I kind of feel the same way. I have a 3.2" LG Optimus T. When I size it up against my buddy's Droid X, his phone looks like a damn tablet. Granted, it can play some sweet video and it's extremely nice to use, but I use a phone to be a phone. Having a bigger phone isn't that great of a "+1" to me since I always carry a laptop with me for work.

Surely I wouldn't want a smart phone with less than 3.2" screen. But a 4.3" screen? No thanks...

That being said, that's the beauty of choice. Get what suits you. After all, I'm not using my buddy's phone. He is. He's not using mine. I am. ;)
