I've accidentally deleted something now three apps aren't working please help

I told myself to leave the apps that came with the phone alone but i didn't listen and now i've messed things up! I deleted a facebook app and now my maps and market, and navigation apps won't open! what did i do? do i have to do a master reboot to fix this or can i retrieve the files by other means!? please help i'm new to the smartphones and the droid system but i love it

you must be rooted in order to be able to delete them.. right?


did you not do a nandroid backup?? you should have because you knew not to mess with original apps on the phone... rule: always do a nandroid backup.

so.. just do a nandroid restore.

This is also why instead of deleting apps, you simply rename them by changing the file extension.

For instance, facebook.apk would then become facebook.apk.bak

This way you can give yourself plenty of time to test things out before fully deleting the app =)

Are you rooted? If so, and if you don't have a nandroid, try the root subforum for your model (unless a helpful mod moves this thread there). You may be able to get directions to a stock ROM image.

If you aren't rooted, the tech support subforum for your model is the best choice.

Which device do you own? I'll move your thread where hopefully owners of the device will be able to assist and advise which apps are safe for removal.

As IOWA suggested though, it's better to rename first, then if no problems arise after a bit of testing, delete.
