Should i swap from my htc hero to an n1 (uk user)

hey eveyone, i have been thinking i should just buy the n1, but i love my hero, will android 2.1 make the hero the phone it should be, your thoughts please from anyone in the uk who has got the N1 and has swapped from a hero. also people in the uk got the new firmware update yet, multitouch is the make or break for me

I was about to ask the same thing, but I'm in the US and have a sprint hero.
My coworker just got one and i played around with it briefly. web page and app loading was especially faster on the N1. i have no doubt that the hero will run 2.1 based on the ports done by XDA developers, but i doubt hero will ever be as fast, which is the main appeal of the N1 for me. one concern for me are the unresponsive touch controls at the bottom. i can see that getting annoying.

Hi James, I had a Hero which I loved (wife still has one which she loves as well, after switching from an iPhone 2G) and switched to the N1.

I was a little curious and was a little frustrated by the ability of Sense to be developed quickly enough to keep it close to vanilla Android. Plus, the occasional slow-down on the phone made me wonder how much more functionality the hardware would stand.

Glad I made the switch as the N1 is incredible and much quicker in all respects, plus the camera is much improved which was important for me.

Hero is currently on eBay :)() and I do miss the Sense widgets......but not that much ;)

I was also waiting for the bravo till the n1 came out, but there is no word yet on when It will come to the states and patience is something I dont have when it comes to shiny toys. Also I'm getting tired of waiting for the newest builds of Android because of sense. Sense is nice but based on my short time with the n1, stock 2.1 is better I think at least in terms of eye candy. There may be some nuances in sense I may miss but I think it's worth the switch. Not to mention how sleek and thin the n1 is. it's the coolest looking phone I've ever seen.

I upgraded from the Hero to the Nexus one and I'm glad I did. Whilst SenseUI is fantastic, the lack of Android updates was really annoying and not worth the delay.

I saw Android 1.6, 2.0, 2.0.1 and now 2.1 come and go and us Hero owners were still stuck on 1.5. I did enjoy installing and running different roms but I really wanted an official ROM.

Secondly, the hardware in older Android phones will never match the speed of the Nexus One (and beyond) so the best thing for me was to sell the Hero and upgrade to the Nexus One.

Since getting it, I love the thing! :)

*zombie voice* One of us....one of us...one of us...

Na but seriously welcome to the n1 community. The hero is a nice phone, but trust me you will be much happier with the N1. Though the hero has a nice interface, it's just not as neat.

I told my friend not to get a Hero when he was offered one on contract. He went ahead and now he regrets it after seeing my N1. It's like anything, you need to keep up with the time home boy. This phone is the Shiznit and you need to get it now and be on point. If you carry on with a Hero you'll be left behind with the old ROMs and app compatibility.
