anyone know which gsm android phone has/will have a "real" camera?

I love my android phone but these horrible cameras are an embarrassment to photographers
anyone know if there is/will be any sort of decent camera with real low light performance on an android phone? (3d might be cool too)

You seem to be a t-mobiler, the camera on the MT4G slide got super great reviews, second only to the Nokia something's god-like camera.

You have kind of answered your own question there. It's a cell phone, not a professional DSLR camera. You arent going to get the same picture from a cell phone with a 2mm light sensor.

i was never a fan of the mt line..
i remember it wasn't an android phone but Samsung made something back in the day that had a protruding lens when in camera mode
is there anything like that in the pipeline?
i know its not going to match my 5d mark 2 in quality but i would love to give my canon point and shoot away and use my phone (& bring my 5dm2 only on pro shoots)

The Nokia N8 is the only phone with a digital camera grade sensor in the world (at least until Sea Ray and N9 comes out). Even the old Samsung Pixon12 (the one you mention that had a protruding camera) doesnt have that kind of camera sensor. The best you can find on the Android end is the Xperia Arc and the SGS2.
