Former LG Optimus M metro pcs user, now Sprint HTC EVO 4G running on Boost Mobile 3g Sprint!

I was an avid LG Optimus M user, custom roms, kernals, oc'ing, etc. But my time has moved on. I recently purchased a Sprint HTC EVO 4g running on Boost Mobile and LOVE IT! I live outside the city limits and never got 3g. Metro PCS 3g (3022, 3023) PRLs are a joke and capped and nowhere near a true 3g speed.

I understand Metro PCS has 4g (inside the city limits), but I live in Jackson County and I get Sprints Nationwide 3g which blows Metro PCS coverage out the water. My girlfriend has T-Mobile and in the house she is stuck on Edge, when my 3g is all over the freakin' place!! Outside, inside, everyway, never falls back to 1x. I'm sold on Boost Mobile, there phones aren't so hot, but if you can't get your hands on an EVO, this things is a beast on Boost 3g. No, I don't get 4g, but from where I came from, fighting for 3g on Metro and dealing with 1x service, not an issue for me.

I considered the LG Esteem, which is 4G, but back to my original issue (limited 4G service), so I would be running a LG Esteem on 1x in my area, no way! My ETC EVO 4g is a beast!!

My two cents

DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING TO METRO! Boost runs on Sprints Nationwide 3g cmda network. Why flash an evo to get 1x service??? You will forfiet 4g of course but guys I was with Metro for years and after coming to Boost I saw the light, 3G all over the place!! Super fast!! $50 unlimited and your plans drops by $5 increments paying on time down to $35.

I didn't say it made sense, but you CAN flash an Evo to Metro... in certain markets. I've been wanting to goto Boost for sometime. I have a really cool number with Metro and I don't really know how to go about fighting to keep it. I was told I could port my Sprint # to metro back when I switched and I got shafted out of it.

BUT if you get good coverage, esp. 3g may be worth changing your #, tho hopefully if you talk w them they'll assign you same #. (haven't been on in while so not sure if you're getting 3g already)

Heh. I do computer work and the last 4 digits of my Metro number are 1337. Changing my number is NOT an option. LOL.

I would love to have 3g again tho, seeing everyone down south gettin 3g on Metro is kinda pissing me off to be honest...

Would you know if Optimus M can be used with Boost Mobile? We have Boost coverage in my area - checked for coverage strength and it showed as fair(lite green) in my area.

Also can I ask about how much does EVO cost? And how is the battery on it so far? TIA :)

Oh yes and how's their customer service please?? ;)
You can not use the Optimus M on boost, technically you cant use any phone they dont sell, the evo on it is technically illegal.
However they do have a pretty decent android available now. the samsung transform ultra. it has a 1ghz snapdragon cpu 1gb of internal memory and a front facing camera as well as an led flash and a few other things. It sells for $220 I think.
They also have the samsung galaxy prevail. which I have it sells for about $150 now it specs are very similar to the optimus, stock clocked 800mhz NO Flash support.
I have not had to use customer service much but when I have used it they have been really good.
you can bypass the automated crap by pressing 88 if you want.

Not legally and we can probably stop that discussion.

the phrase "not legally" is incorrect, per the DMCA's response to the iphone jailbreak incidents, they stated it is NOT illegal to root a phone, thus use it on any network.

To quote: "applies to all mobile smart phones and not the iPad, does not require Apple or other handset makers to allow jailbreaking. Instead, it makes it lawful to circumvent controls designed to block jailbreaking"

The Link

To quote again:
"Other exemptions to the DMCA announced Monday include:
*allow the unlocking of mobile phones to change carriers.
*allow the cracking of video game digital rights management controls to probe security flaws.
*allow the breaking of DVD encryption by professors, students and documentary makers so the clips can be used for education and commentary.
*allow the blind to circumvent locks on e-books to enable read-aloud features.
*allow the bypassing of broken or irreplaceable dongles."

The discussion may continue if moderators approve it being in this section being its an LG optimus M to Boost mobile question.

To add to the service discussion, im currently a sprint user with an EVO 3D, former metro user with an optimus M, and i will say the switch left me happy from where i live having great service over other providers. :) consider another provider for ur optimus M if you want. and hopefully someone can help you flash it :)

Edit!!: It also leaves room to say that the carrier can deny service to your device if they wish.

Its actually perfectly legal as you own all the rights to the phone and you can do what you want with it. So you won't get into trouble for flashing phones.
Flashing the phone to another service is perfectly legal.

However the ESN is illegal to change and the other carriers do not allow outside esn's added to their service.
Metro and cricket and im not entirely sure about cricket are the only ones i know about that allow you to bring your own esn.
