***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

This does give validity to a lot of the things Steven's source said. That if this had happened sooner it might not have launched on VZW. Didn't Google Wallet only come out 2 or 3 weeks ago. That may have been when this all started. I do agree that it is probably too late for VZW to back out, but it all makes sense.

That's a smart analysis. I'm not sure I agree that Verizon can't back out, though. It's all about how much $$$ they'd lose by voiding the contract versus how much $$$ they think they'd lose by allowing the floodgates to open on Google Wallet on VZW.

As crappy as this would be, I would bend over and take it. Verizon has the best coverage in my area, all of my family are on Verizon and I would just settle for the next latest and greatest.
Much as I hate to admit it, I think you're not at all alone. The Bionic is a solid phone (screen notwithstanding, yada yada) and Vigor and Stratosphere and whatever else are also coming out soon.

Personally, there's not much chance I'd transfer my family plan off of VZW, what w/the superb voice coverage and now LTE. :(

Not getting a Verizon would be a big disappointment.

Sadly, this is my case as well. Verizon is my ONLY option of carrier. the others are so bad that they are not even possibilities. they better not do this.

Ok...WTF does that mean...can someone put that into google translate for me.

Edit: Is he saying...Razr (spyder), Galaxy, and Vigor....and that there is more than one option?

One thing that I did not know before is that Samsung is a foundry partner for TI. So this means that the OMAP4460 can head strait to Samsung phone assembly factory right after it's been fabbed. However, apparently TI is not real happy with Samsung's foundry... they feel like they take a backseat relative to other customers Samsung feels are higher priority (Apple, especially) and plans on terminating their relationship after the move to 28 nm processes. Here's an article about it:

Upset TI slams Samsung?s foundry efforts

nice catch, but we've already seen photos of the RAZR and the VIGOR, they both had touchsensitive-buttons on the front and weren't running ICS 4.0 as the galaxy did...

edit: hm... aren't all these 3 devices verizon-exclusive ones?

i don't like where this is leading to...

Maybe RAZR and Vigor (I refuse to call it "Rezound") will ship with ICS?

BMX has said before that hardware specs aren't the point. The point is ICS. (He tweeted this a couple days ago, I think.)

If RAZR and Vigor both ship with ICS, that would fit with this latest tweet.

And this, in turn, would piss off Verizon. Nexus has to be the first one out of the gate. If their announcement/release gets delayed, so does Vigor and RAZR.

Hmmm.

Well, at least you really don't have to worry too much since you will get the GSM version...I guess the question really for you is not an if...but a when....so awesome for you...damn you. :)

I don't think we've seen the last of capacitive buttons. People will chime in on whether they like that feature or not on the Nexus, and some manufacturers will continue to do it regardless, I'm sure.

ICS will most likely have the ability to hide the software buttons if it detects capacitive, so no big deal.

I am confused, too. Is he saying that more than the Gnex will be announced in Hong Kong or that there will be more than one device that debuts with ICS?

Oh...does the insanity ever stop on here..........why do I stay...just can't look away though...it's like a train wreck but I just can't stop. I doubt either of those two will get ICS initially ....especially since Moto has the announcement next week...

I hope it works out for all you guys on VZW, I'm rooting for you guys. There seems to be a lot of passion & emotion from all of you guys wanting a Nexus device on VZW, obviously, we're on page what 175. Can't blame you guys for that either, I have loved my Nexus device. I'm on t-mobile and can wait till end of November or December...I was just hoping GSM version came out before 2012. But I hate to admit that this makes sense, I still think VZW will get it, think positive!!!!! But if not, the new razor does sound pretty sweet, and I bet you guys are the only one to get it.

thats not awesome... last time it took 3 months for the nexus s to arrive in germany after the official announcement in december -.-'

if i'll have to wait this long, i'll skip the NP and buy the SGS3...

yeah you're 100% correct, but as the onscreen-buttons are a main aspect of ICS, it just doesn't make sense to leave them out on a nexus device... (my opinion)

I'm inclined to agree. There is something comforting to many users about capactive or fully physical buttons - when they're well made, unlike the ones on my Charge.

I still don't see the nfc thing as a hold up for VZW, because honestly, how many nexuses does VZW plan to sell. It will be quite a few but not enough to change their bottom line significantly, and they wouldn't be loosing that much money to google wallet, if any at all.

Sort of like paying $2 here and $2 there for ATM's. It adds up.

I'm seriously not convinced that VZW is not getting the Gnex. Honestly, they are already made, ready to ship I'm sure, they are in both VZ and BB's systems. We are in a panic over something that will probably be resolved before launch. Someone will make a back door deal and we will be happy campers.

Sammy/Google have a ton of money invested in this already, and I'm sure tons of inventory. VZ had to sign a contract before taking it on. I think it would be a nightmare if they backed out of their deal. And worst case, the VZ Gnex will be sold directly from Google/Sammy with no subsidized price (that would seriously suck though)...
