I don't know why Verizon and Google would even want to duke it out. RAZR sells millions to people swayed by advertising. Nexus sells millions to people who want ICS experience. Motorola makes money, Samsung makes money, Google makes money, Verizon makes money.

And we all take our happy broke selves home with whatever phone we want.

Come on, Verizon, get off your power trip and release this thing STOCK and make lots of money doing it!

I know where you're coming from, but things change. Who would have ever thought that Verizon would ever allow a Nexus, unlocked, bloat-free phone on their service? But according to a lot of people with good track records (BMX, P3Droid) and others who have been confirmed as real sources by Mods (Steven's Love Tunnel), that's what we're getting.

Times, they are a'changing, CK. At least for a beautiful, short, wonderful while.

Have some of them said anything specific about the lock/unlock/unlockable aspects of the BL. I'm very curious about this.

Also has anyone heard anything about inclusion of Androids build in VoIP functionality in the base build for Nexus? Is that usually on a Nexus and is it there on this one?

Looking at the features, how much you want to bet Apple pushes the "face unlock" on the next Iphone and calls it revolutionary :p

Back on topic: I want this phone oh so bad now! Just looking at the sleek look of it just sells me on it.

Any idea what the battery life is compared to the Iphone 4 (trying to get an idea compared to friends Iphone on battery life).

see above :)

You forget we are dealing with Verizon here. Thats huge doooooooooood

Verizon is not some evil entity to make your life miserable. They are in the business of making money.

The iPhone is able to deal without Verizon getting into the way with the updates.

While Verizon wants to muck up the phone with its bloatware, Google has more than likely had an agreement that they can't do that to the Nexus lines of phones. This is the costs Verizon had to pay in order to gain the most advance Android device available. It's business.

Would it be too much to ask for stereo speakers in a phone? I know the iPhones have to speaker ports at the bottom and I could have sworn that the Bionic has speakers at the top and bottom of the device. I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make in terms of sound quality but i still think it would be nice to have. I watch a lot of stuff on Netflix on my DX and the single speaker feels little lacking. Thoughts?

The iPhone is on Verizon. Are they having these problems? If not, then hopefully neither will the Nexus.

iPhone is in a whole other league than the Nexus. Thats not a knock on the Nexus so nobody get excited. I'm saying the iPhone is a slam dunk when it comes to marketing and sales. The Nexus pales in comparison. It's not a heavily marketed phone and has a very specific market...

Barely any marketing dollars are thrown at it and until that happens it will sit at the back of the line in sales

Looks like the OMAP 4460 is downclocked to 1.2 GHz because of problems at 1.5, but the PowerVR540 GPU has been cranked up to 384 MHz.

Texas Instruments confirms Galaxy Nexus has newer OMAP4460 processor | Android and Me

Haven't had time to read the last 7 pages here yet, but I think the above is a misreading. When they mention the 4460's GPU at 384MHz I think they're referring to a stock 1.5GHz model's specs, not the 1.2GHz in the Nexus. But I dunno when we'll get any direct confirmation.

NFC notes

NFC - near-field communications - is not really new. It's a short-range communication system consisting of an NFC antenna (typically a small loop) connected to a tiny radio and transmitting and receiving as per the governing ISO standards - and then apps communicate with each other thru it.

If you think of it as a kind of tiny-WiFi or mini-Bluetooth, that's exactly close enough to get the full idea.

A few years back, they got added to SD cards and put into a few phones as an add-on - and the apps included were strictly for banking at that time. So - not new.

I expected if they would add it anywhere as we moved forward on phones without it built-in, it would be SD cards (and for all I know, that might yet happen).

In this case - they put it on the battery.

Do other others phones have data paths sufficient to support that on their batteries, if so updated?

With a firmware update on the phone, I honestly don't see what would be stopping it. Your battery charge and temperature readouts already prove to you that some data paths already exist to the battery. I could be wrong on this - but it seems reasonable to me.

What happens if the phone is in a case? Will NFC still work?

I'm a little confused by this. I have a granfathered in unlimited data contract as I have been paying for data since the Motorola Q. Arn't the tethering plans just an additional $20 or $29 a month? Less than a dollar a day?

For folks with grandfathered unlimited 4G LTE plans, there's an add on mobile hotspot for $29/month, however if you have a corporate discount it drops down to ~$24/month, but wait! There's more! It's also pro-rated! So if I go on vacation (which I have done multiple times in the last 3 months) I can call VZW, ask them to add the service at the beginning of my trip, and then cancel at the end, and I only pay for the days I use which is roughly $0.80 per day. Most people don't know you can do that, but you can:D

They'll probably make it Retina Unlock to go along with their Retina Display. ;)

Have the Nexi really sold millions? Not arguing, but I'd really be surprised if all the Nexi together sold 2 million. Seems more of a niche phone.
