***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Looking a lot like 10th for pre-order, 17th for in-hand now.

Between this image considering how it lists 10/27 for the RAZR which is it's pre-order date, and the post on the Phandroid front page about availability of the SIM-free version on the 17th now per Amazon.

I'm not ready to give up on the 3rd as a preorder date quite yet. 1) I don't think a phone this big would be launched without a preorder. 2) The RAZR was also listed on these MAP screens for 11/10 (the store launch date) UNTIL VZ announced the 10/27 preorder, then it showed up as 10/27. 3) I really, really don't want to wait longer. Even if it doesn't change when I can actually have the device, knowing it's preordered will give me piece of mind

It was posted on droid-life yesterday, and the Bionic's price did drop by $50 today.

I think a release without pre-order and them making a big deal out of the phone is unlikely considering they paid for exclusivity.

Are you sure about that? I don't think that they paid anything.

I much prefer to preorder and have shipped to my house. I usually always buy my phones online/telephone and have shipped. 2 reasons for me:

1. I can charge/calibrate the battery properly before turning it on. When you go to the store the sales rep does this which does not calibrate your battery correctly due to the fact they have to activate it.

2. After having 2 phones damaged by sales reps (yes, broken battery covers, scratched devices because they are careless when activating...watch next time you buy a new phone, the rep will place that phone carelessly on its face without a care what is underneath) I no longer purchase in a Verizon store.

Can't wait for this phone and ICS!

LOL, that is a endless debate. There are those that will SWEAR that if you don't let it charge overnight the first time you destroy the battery. And those who say it doesn't matter.

Most, of what little "scientific" tests I've seen indicate it any difference is small...

Battery "calibration" normally refers to the "battery indicator" on phone, it keeps track of the voltage level over time to better predict how much battery energy is left. Batteries aren't like a car gas tank where full-half-empty are static. They change over time...

Quad cores hopefully!!

I think that dual-dual-cores and big-little processing will be a bigger deal for phones. Two low-power cores that give great battery life for basic tasks like reading your email, then two fast high-powered cores for when you want to game.

I can agree with this logic for sure, I didn't realize it didn't change on the MAP until after they chose the pre-order date. I think 11/3 is out as a release date, but 11/10 is still reasonable.

I'll just leave this here. I posed as a consumer trying to decide between the RAZR and the SGN, and got some interesting information on both the release date for the RAZR, and still got a vague response on the release date for the SGN.

Obviously, a grain of salt is a good idea here, as these reps may be misinformed.

Damn, a good slider is something I would potentially wait on. Too bad it's bloated to hell and back with a locked bootloader.

I'm not a Moto fan at all. I am happy to see them continue to improve on their product and help pave the way for others to step up their game, but I will never own another Moto device again, personally have had one too many bad experiences with their hardware. I do like the fact that RAZR is back and making the phone as thin as possible, this is a big plus!

And yes, the battery calibration debate is like beating a dead horse with a stick. Just my personal preference from experience. To each their own.

That was my understanding as well.

Well, I assemble lithium polymer ion cell packs for special extended battery packages and can tell you they do respond to being fully charged and "almost" fully drained the 1st few times. I keep written logs on the mileage and hours I get from my batteries.

On mine there is a protection circuit that takes care of that limit for me. This would be to the low level warning or phone shut down you get on a phone.

After doing this I log more hours each time. After two to three cycles I don't see any more gains in longevity.

And they do not like to be stored for long periods at full charge. Put one on the shelf at 100% and let it go to 25% or lower and you may find it will not hold as good as when new. Store it at 60% - 75% or so and she will treat you better.

This is why they do not ship @ 100%. If I get a new device of any kind with a 100% charged battery I get suspicious.

I called this morning to ask about preordering SGN as well, the lady was useless, nice, but useless. She said, "well let me check our website, I need to type in 'Galaxy Nexus', I see here that there is a signup page for email notifications, does this help?" I politely thanked her for her time and hung up.

I'm not fond of the industrial design Motorola uses with little refresh from model to model. The camera is also horrible. Even with the RAZR, it's still an X...a VERY NICE X. Enough that if it wasn't for the GNex, I would probably be getting the RAZR.

I'm not a Moto fan at all.
